From what I've read a 12A rotary will fit without cutting. As I see it, you'll have to cut a slot in the bellhousing to clear the steering rack (as done on Fiat TC swap). As the output shaft on a rotary is higher up than on a piston engine, you'll have to mount the engine fairly high to get any ground clearance. If you use the RX7 box, you may well need to shorten the remote linkage if you want to be able to change gear while you're sitting in the front. Have a look on here www.morrisdownunder.com/forum/index.php?sid=7921e6573279f30a45c7311f2a7a4012The rotary is gaining popularity down under. Incidentally I'm pretty sure there's a 12A-powered Minor pickup doing a monster burnout on Youtube somewhere.

If I had the spare cash, I'd jump at one. Superb car that was streets ahead (technologically speaking) of virtually everything else on the 'family saloon'market at the time. If it ain't rotten go for it.

There should be a rivetted plate below the regulator box on the bulkhead, but I'm guessing this is missing? On the passenger's side there should be a stamped plate at the top of the bulkhead, but that will only have the numbers on it, not the letters which accompany them/ As it's a pre-58 car the chassis (or, more correctly, car) number should start with an F.

From what I've read, those Grand Vitara boxes have the transfer box bolted onto the back. once that't removed, you can bolt up a propshaft as per normal. As for the weight of the Fiat twincam, it's 270lbs, wheras the A series in the Minor is 252lbs. Yes the twincam is no lightweight, but neither is the stock engine.

That Mk2 has been featured in Custom Car and feature some trick electrics to make the original switches multi-function. e.g. the horn ring also works the line-lock! Anyone got any info on the Austin Seven hotrod?

How about a Sherpa/LDV axle. They're about the right width for early Ford rods, and are derived from the SD1 axle (well all except the early ones whigh you're less likely to find), so you can swap ratios if needed. BTW, I think the Standard has a Jag/Chevy PCD (5x4.75")

Theoretically, filling the tank with water should drive out the vapours. So you should (in theory) be OK to then drain the tank and weld it. *This information is based on a hunch, please seek specialist advice before trying this*

Some of those GM motors are non interference. I think the 1.4 falls into that category along with the later 1.6. You should be OK.

Why not just mod a Minor? It's a better car to start with. 'Cos this thread's about the PT Cruiser.

Just a thought here. Remember that Minor-fronted Combo van that wes on here recently? That front end would really work on the PT Cruiser. Look at the way that the front wings blend into the door. Minor. Look at the way the doors kick out at the bottom. Minor. Any one up for a Photochop?

This is coming along nicely. It goes to show that however much rust you can see, you can bet there's a load more that you can't see! What engine are you planning?
