Thought it should be about time i put up a thread about my retros, so here it is. First up a Datsun bluebird with 25000miles on the clock and off the road for 20 years and only about a month away from being back on it. next up a very rusty Renault 18 2.1 diesel, current daily and will be receiving many running repairs, E30 325i 'chromie', a bit frilly in places but still quite solid, going to be a stripped out drift style car, just sorted the clutch slave cylinder for the third time so hopefully i can start the fun stuff. and finally a polo saloon with a 1.4 from a golf and a load of other bits,

Some of the rust on my 910's are similar to yours. You have one disadvantage with the saloons, where you have the chome panel of the A pillars. The rust behind them can be awful. Its your 910 with the ca in it that got me interested in them in the first place! Followed your thread closely on sxoc when you were building it, hoping to do the same thing in a few years time. Is the chrome easy enough to remove?

Thanks for the input guys, surprisingly the bottom half of the car is in good condition with only a couple of scabs on a corner of the front valance, worst bits are, big scab in the middle of the bonnet, rust starting along all the passenger side of the bonnet, seam at the bottom of the rear screen, each corner of the rear screen, bit between the gutter and where the roof comes back up. As wagoneer says you have to take it right back to good metal, as ive found that kurust etc and a bit of paint arent enough to stop it coming back, thinking about trying to get the best paint match in a rattle can, sanding back the rust treat and fill and paint. As for mods, with it being a 1 owner 25000 mile car the only thing i will be doing is putting on a set of celica supra wheels on it, for now.

Ok i will be getting my '84 bluebird on the road soon but have a problem. On the whole the car is mint as its been off the road for 20 years but being a datsun there are still a few bits of rust that are generally all over the car. Now my question is how to stop it getting any worse. My budget doesnt stretch to a full respray and i think matt black would ruin it so what do you guys think? The offending beast.

Does it turnover? I'm sometimes having the same issue, turn key nothing happens, come back later starts. The thick cable that goes to the starter chafes on the exhaust manifold and causes all sorts of problems

Are those wheels off a 928? The yours the 2.0 or 2.5s model? It looks good thanks, apparently they are ATS wheels, no idea of their name though, pretty rare i believe, and yes four stud = 2.0

funnily enough i just swapped a mk2 capri for a 924,the capri was needing a bit of work but still why are they way more expensive than a 924? The mind boggles.

Hi all thought I would post up my newest purchase a Datsun Bluebird 910 that was stored in a container for 20 years and is only on 25000. Never been welded but some scabs are coming through, to get it moving had to free off clutch, fit a new condenser, rear brake shoes and a battery, even started on its old petrol. plans are to get a ticket, drive it for a bit then store it over the winter. Does anybody know a forum that deals with these, ZXOC any good? I have no doubt i'll be needing a few bits as its been laid for so long. I'll add a few more pics once I upload them, including the interior in all its 'Werthers Brown' glory.

Nice find, just a shame scene tax has put most of them out of reach of mere peasants like me, a bit off topic but I have just acquired this and notice the plates aren't far off each other!

For some reason the T12/T72s 1986-1990 don't have many rust issues compared to the earlier u11 1984-1986, my t12 is almost immaculate and I have seen many in the same condition. Many of the rusty ones will have met their maker. Solid and reliable.

Make: BMW Model: 1988 325i 2 door coupe Mot: 11 months Tax: 5 months Mileage: 135k Price: £1750ono Location: Fife just north of Edinburgh. Ok its time to sell the car I said I would never sell. Ive had it for 2 and a half years now and its been faultless. Colour is Bronzitbeige Metallic, Has quite a comprehensive list of extras and comes with a lot of history. M20b25 2.5 mid compression made between the switchover from high to low compression, pulls really well. Will come with its original 15inch BBS with caps. Non sunroof model LSD Full custom stainless exhaust from manifold back. Braided brake lines all round and red stuff pads at front. Big bore throttle body Zone chip Solid metal steering guibo on steering rack uj, improves feedback no end. M-tech suspension still in good order. Pretty solid had a couple of welded bits but nothing serious not your usual shed. Bullseye headlights Comes with 2 boots, I used a spoilerless one in the winter and one with a Tech 1 spoiler in the summer. Shadowline trim Manual steering rack, I prefer this as you getter better feedback compared to PAS cars. Strut brace Propshaft centre bearing just replaced. Interior: Black leather with 6 series front sport seats and custom retrimmed back bench with headrests. Tech 1 or 2 steering wheel( whichever you prefer) 13 button OBC Rear blind M-tech gear knob Manual wind down windows which means they work. Opening rear windows. No crack in the dash. Bad points, The drivers front wing has been sprayed with rattle cans, looks ok from a distance, not so when close up. Front seats could do with a spruce up. Some obc functions don't work like mpg and average speed etc. Time, date, temp and speed limit all work. On longer journeys the speedo starts to jump about a bit think it might be down to the sensor in the diff. All in all a good honest car, will be sadly missed. I will try and get pics up of the interior when I get the chance. Pm for contact details. Thanks.
