I'm just having a little rant so let me apologise in advance. I am selling a car at the moment, a car that I believe is priced so low I am virtually giving it away, I have had nothing but whats your best price numptys and yes I'll have it and then radio silence. I even had a guy give me £100 deposit and then change his mind the following day all without ever seeing the car! Now I don't mind people chancing their arm that's fine but what really grinds my gears is people who don't get back if they don't like the answer they are given. For example somebody on Ebay just offered me a low amount and I politely counter offered with what is still a ridiculously low amount, now I get it, he doesn't want to pay that but at least a reply with something along the lines of "okay, it's a little too much for me, thanks" or similar. I mean that's just manners isn't it? You wouldn't just stop talking to someone face to face and walk off mid conversation now would you! Is it a weird modern phenomenon of faceless non genuine people wasting time or am I just an old git moaning for the sake of it? Probably the latter...... penance for rant: I don't think its technology to blame, it certainly contributes, i think its a case people think they are entitled and are owed something by the world these days so they are just plain rude Mrs fp popped up for sale an as new CD player which was used for 2 months and was in the box for £30, a guy offered £10 and when she politely declined due to the condition, he got curse word and gave abuse through message because she didn't accept this reinforces why I don't sell to the general public and I only deal with folks though forums I frequent

ll keep the end up for the banger boys! Good man! It was bmcnut's Dad's A60 pictures that prompted me to make this thread. If it races in a circle I want to see them! I think number 111 is a beautiful bit of kit had a good look around it at Buxton When having a look around at the capri's and 3 door sierras F.I.L fp likened it to my driveway because of car choice

Last time around I got caught twice within 5 minutes by the Google car on the same road, 1st pulling out of my drive, the Google car must've then gone around the side loads and back on itself as it then got me at the shop down the road

The local place I use, smithsons in normacot (stoke on trent) is spot on price wise, a good old school factors with a good bunch of knowledgeable blokes who work there as well, a very personal service and they bend over backwards to help you out, out of all my time going there I've never had a wrong part

Bloody hell!! That's a hell of a task you had/have there Mr FP!! Still be worth it when it's done mate. Lol at quickrack that dustpan of escort would fetch a pretty penny on eBay! Hopefully mine won't require as much new metal as yours but if it does then it'll just take a bit longer to complete. I bought this escort when my youngest daughter was 7 months old. We used to walk round where we live of an evening before she went to bed and I spotted it tucked in the corner of a garden. There was an older couple watering their plants and I asked if it was for sale. We got chatting and I gave them our home number and they said they would call the next day after they had spoken to their son about a price. When the lady called she said I could have it for £300 cleaned with a radio in it or £250 as it was, I just took it as it was! It is possibly the last isle of Wight registered 3 door, mk4 estate left over here. It's got us out the poo a few times when so called reliable modern cars have left us stranded so it's well worth saving in my book! That's when you could get old fords for normal money, she has had this for 10 years and used it as a daily, back then she wanted a S1 and I got told about a stripped down RS turbo in a guys garage with no more details except he lost momentum with it, she bought it even though it wasn't what she wanted but it looked a solid motor the plan was it was destined to get flipped when it was back in 1 piece, it was a rolling shell the interior was out, It had all the engine machining done and everything to build which equated to £5500 in receipts for machining and genuine parts and performance parts, I built it she drove it and fell in love, so ended up keeping it and over the years the spec hKas evolved, I took it off road last April for a freshen up as its age was showing and digging showed up the areas, the sills, inners, a pillars etc was caused by someone repairing it poorly years before we had it, someone fitted a pair of sills and didn't route the sunroof drains correctly they just cut them off at an angle so silently the rain water was being dumped into the sill cavities and rotted it from the inside out, so decided go to town on it, I need to get it done she wants to get driven to our wedding in it luckily we haven't set a date yet Anyway I'm going to stop clogging your thread up with my ramblings, looking forward to updates

Cheers mate, ive Been there on the rear arch as well, ended up replacing inner and outer arch and repairing inner structure Saying that I'm to 260 hours over 5 or 6 months, the shell got levelled and was braced with box section, done new floor pans, both inner and outer sills replicating strengtheners inside, both inner quarters repaired, both a pillars repaired, battery tray, rear arch inner and outer passenger side, lower quarter, rear panel repaired, boot floor repaired and chassis leg all on passenger side, probably a few more bits I've forgot as well, when the weather gets better i've got to still do the drivers inner and outer rear arch and lower quarter area and strip the loom out to check the fuse box panel and a few little bits, I can't wait to get it finished There was plenty of this If it wasn't a genuine rs I would've just built it into another shell instead of restoring it, the Mrs has a great emotional attachment to it and I admired the car in my teens as well, it lived in the area where I grew up in the 90s, so it would be a shame if it didn't get saved

As for retarding the ignition for unleaded you usually have to retard it in between 2 and 6 degrees

Can't really hear on that video on my phone, pinking will sound like some one shaking drawing pins in a tin under load, usually caused by the ignition being too far advanced, get a strobe on it and check your ignition timing

only one word springs to mind....why? surely it can't improve one of the sweetest handling of things?? The owner probably got a bit excited when cutting the rear archs out to replace them
