Hi all, Looking for a 1990s Audi or VW carrying a longitudinal 1Z non-PD engine. Manual gears please.
Lancashire or close by if poss, but willing to travel for the lower mileages and prices. I don't really care about the rest of the car's condition, but engine and gearbox and anciliaries should be in good condition.
Many Thanks

Hi all, I have a 320 clk running a OM606 diesel engine. It is throwing up an ASR error simply cos there is no longer ASR on it. I got to keep hitting the reset button to get rid of it every start. I want someone to replicate the reset button signal to the ASR OFF button that is still on the car so it doesn't look as stupid. Been told it is not simply a matter of linking wires....I HATE modern cars!
Any recommendation appreciated.

FACT? Saloon83 does 100 miles a week in a 60-70mpg car. So he will be paying circa 6 quid per week on Dino and possibly 4 quid a week on veg (70ppl, WVO). He will save apr 12 quid a month.
RISK If he is unlucky and works 5 days a week, he does a 20 mile round trip. So the chances of running the oil in his system warm is limited, the pump will be working HARD for about the first 2-3 miles each way or 30% of its duty.
WORTH IT ON BALANCE? Is this duty-cycle going to increase the chances of failure? Can he install a fuel heater and recover that money quickly enough on a high-miler? Fuel pump repairs can be expensive if he is not trained or capable in diesel wrenching - Diesel engineering can be a black art - can he self repair or get mates-rates? If the car fails, does he have another easy mode of transport?
I had to take these into account: I do 400-500 a week, I run a £800 1986 Mercedes 190D, I use straight WVO at 70ppl and 38-40mpg. I save about £25-30 a week, nearly £100 a month (apr 45l @ 136 vs 70 ppl) and have run it since this January. I have 2 other cars to use if this goes boopsy and has to go offroad for repairs.
Personally, I wouldnt touch WVO or SVO for your particular circs, unless its purely an academic interest.
Hope all this helps, I would be a VERY poor puppy if I had to depend on Dino. Thank God for Mr Diesel and his peanut oil!

Not sure on the older one. I don't have a leccy diagram.
My 190d donor does not have an rpm gauge, so I cannot trace a wire to the alternator. However, 190ds normally come with rpm gauges, so the alternator might have this pin.....unless the pickup is off the crank or flywheel....are you getting the idea that I have NO idea!?!

Hi all again I am trying to get my tiny head around an engine conversion. 1969 Petrol Merc to 1986 Diesel Merc. I can see some stupid curse word about to happen - The acceptor car has got a Manual or Direct sensing Oil Pressure gauge. This is basically an oil line that goes all the way from the engine to an oil gauge on the dash. The donor is electrical....I think. The Acceptor has a "bulb" driven coolant temp gauge. Basically a long copper tube with a "bulb" on it which is screwed in somewhere. The bulb probably has some kind of liquid in it, poss mercury which moves the gauge as it expands. The acceptor rpm gauge is petrol. So runs off the spark? Diesel doesnt have a spark, I wonder if I need something to drive it off the Alternator or install a crank sensor??! I would like to modify these gauges to electrically driven. Basically, retaining the faces but changing the actuator thingies to accept electrical info from new electrical sensors for oil pressure, Coolant temp and rpm I would appreciate any contact please? I am in Lancs, if it helps, but I could easily send these bits off for redoing. Gauge pic FYI Ta muchly

Anyone know if Joe is a mech by trade? If he is, he takes on jobs and anyone knows him personally, could they please send him a message?
I have a stalled w114 250d projec. I am looking for someone to complete it. I think we can all agree that Joe is a talented boy and money is due where its most deserved.
I am in Lancs. I understand he has family here, so he might be close by too.
Regards Udhi

Woof! There it certainly is!
Joe, by that offer, you have just subscribed to my stalking & Mithering services. Thank you.
Apart from the chassis x-member, did you have to make any other changes like you had to in this current build?
Look forward to your progress.

This is scarier than I expected, I am trying to sort out an OM602 into my W114. Mine has that tell tale blister on the N/S C pillar too, I have NO intention of going digging after it from the outside. I will attempt to fix it from the inside. Looking forward to your progress.

Hi all, My spawn of Satan 1969 Mercedes W114 has got some kind of running prob. I would appreciate names and numbers to call to help fix this pile of poo?
In the same vein, anyone know of a bright spark who can stick a diesel engine from a Mercedes 190D into a 1969 W114?
