In response to your question about buying from Jersey, I don't think there is any requirement for MOT in Jersey, which may explain in part the stark contrast between visible body and underside.
I have to say after doing a mild restoration on a GT this year I was pleasantly surprised how easy these cars are to work on and I thoroughly recommend one as a classic daily driver.

Nice to see this moving again.
Bizarrly I am kind of in a similar situation. I finally found a barn and now I'm setting up to get your old 240 out of the lock up it's currently in and set up for some actual work to start.
I promise a thread when I actually do something!

Bolf,
I'm Milton Keynes but I work up in Cranfield, not too far really.
Like you I don't really know the good local places, despite living here for over a decade!
If you know of any units my side of Bedford let me know, I'm looking for somewhere.
And I could join in a bit of community spirit, if you'll take someone from roundabout city that is.

OK, so here's the point passing over my head at 30,000 feet but..........
I looked at the pictures, spent a long while trying to decide if I liked it or not, noted the not so subtle stuff like engine, wheels and rear lights and read the thread.
Then Sophers posted the before picture and I was in love with how it looked as a beat up model A.
So I don't mind it, I like the splash of Bavaria but overall I can't see added value.
This is not my view on all rods BTW, that pick up Dez is building with the rivets, bead rolling and helicopter seats, that thing is pretty much my image of car meets art, total perfection.
However Octagon paul, thanks for posting, I enjoyed the food for thought.

That's a very sorry sight, I feel your pain, it's a horrible shock when your pride and joy takes a knock like that.
As others have said, glad you are OK.
Everything is repairable, personally I'd suggest get it recovered to yours if you can, strip the big bits off so you can assess it properly then take your time in deciding what happens next.
It may look much better than you initially thought.
Best of luck,
Rob

As it's a 4 door pillarless coupe whatever you do with this car it will be amazing. It puts a big smile on my face to see it getting saved and returned to the road, however if there's one thing I'd like to see on your build it would be.........................................
More pictures of discared kitchen appliences getting welded in the body please, washing machine reclyling into Oldsmobiles is an awesome idea!
I wish you all the best with this, I think it's excellent.

Mr PandaSelecta,
It just so happens I'm up your way with work in a week or so (w/c 11th March).
Can I swing by one evening and take that Baby Austins book?
Please PM me your mobile number and I'll get in touch when I'm up to Newcastle, let me know what evenings you might be free.
Thanks,
Rob

Again, not what I'd do but I really like that as a package, especially the interior, not my choice but it's subtle, smart and follows the theme well.
In fact this car reminds me of the cars in Gattaca, but actually more suited to the film due to the semi futuristic twist.

I'm glad to see something happening on this, you're spot on about the seat comfort.
Although I sold it, it was never my car (long story about how friends in germany shouldn't have UK ebay accounts) but I always felt kinda sorry for it, I went through that large stack of paper a couple of times and it seemed to be a truely cared for car that just fell on hard times for the last couple of years which is where the history just goes dead. I really wanted to take it on myself but the sad truth is I have too many cars and it would have languished about and never got fixed.
I'm glad you got the crank sensor sorted. I hadn't a clue where to start and when we did try to diagagnose it it point blank refused to cut out, in fact it only cut out twice in about 200 miles of driving for me. I'm also truely sorry about the auto box, I really thought it was missing 1, not 2 ratios!
But now it's going M/T then I guess it's all turning out right!
BTW your Sierra went to a friend, also MOT'd relatively easily and is still pretty close to me, in fact so close it's due back on the drive any time soon for a new drive line coupling and gear box mount, lol.

Hi Rich,
Nice MGB build, progressing well, I like the wheels and the seats.
I bought Bryn's old car. It's nice to see the door and bonnet went to a good home.
I really need to get round to making a thread for mine. I'm flat out trying to get it ready for a little event in April, it might just make it.
Very much looking forward to seeing your car in paint, it's going to look awesome. Rob

£30?
Looks like it could be a damn site easier than some blocks of wood and a misued bottle jack for gently massaging my w124 back into shape.
P.S. If you've stil got some 124 bits about could be up for a bulk buy with some front end parts, lol.

You could actually re-shell it into a completely legit shell making everything super tidy along the way, end up with a fantastic immaculate car and be content in the fact you put a wrong thing right?
