Whilst I don't intend to fiddle with my new C-Class Coupe, I allowed myself one small modification. Before. After. The car's full name is C220CDi AMG Sport Coupe, so the badge is quite suitable.

However, the inner side of the arch towards the front of the rear wing cannot be accessed from inside the boot. I propose to buy a sealant / waxoil (?) with a tube attachment and squirt it via the first three side trim fixing holes down into the arch area. Can anyone recommend a suitable product? I want something I can buy off the shelf. Hi! You can also reach the last bottom corner via the smal holes for the clips holding the smal trim bit. This area might stay 'dry' otherwise. As for a suitable product I have no real long-term experiences, but on the Mini I made good experiences with Mike Sander's Grease. It can be replicated by using NATO spec petroleum jelly & melt it with 10% bees wax. Though application into cavitie is messy and unconvienent. It needs to be heated to liquify & spraxed quickly into the cavities (compreessed air & probe). So a wax-based product might be better suited for your needs. The grease stays active and doesn't settle and creeps into every ever so smal creek, though. That's it's big advantage. And on a hot summer day, your car might dribble the one or other drop of grease on your driveway... At work we use Teroson waxes, with good success (seen a car with a 10 year old repair - still good).

hi technics1974, how do I remove my becker radio from the console, I do not want to damage anything, so need a proceedure if you can help. I found a code generator, but need the serial. Thanks Difficult one. When I removed the Blaupunkt stereo that came with my car I removed it using special tools that fit into two holes located along both sides of the headunit. Push the tool into the holes, which released the unit, then pull the tools out together with the unit. I guess two cut wire coat hangers would do the trick. Once rmoved, I noticed that the space where the headunit fits into is totally enclosed. There is no way of getting to the back of the unit to push it out. However your Becker comes out, it does so from the front. Got any pics of it?

Sorry, I was offline yesterday. I think you're right - no access from anywhere but the front. I spoke to the previous owner(old lady) this morning and she gave me 9133 for the code which sounds right, so will try tonight. I will post photos of the radio tonight, but here is the model closest related to it. - Mine has a English On/Off button.

That's odd, there are no release mechanisms openings in the front panel. I think a google search is your best bet.

Here are some very bad photos of my own radio taken with my phone(sorry). As you can see, my old lady has high mileage, but still drives like a new car Cheers and thanks for the advise and help.

That's good news damagecontrol. I wouldn't worry about the mileage, these cars were built to last. Providing the car has been regularly serviced and looked after, you shouldn't have any mileage related problems.

Update on my W123: The welding repairs have been completed, the rear wings have been prepared and sprayed and the arches have been sealed internally. The paintwork is not finished yet (due another coat) and there is still a lot of finishing to be done. The car should be ready for collection tomorrow afternoon. I hope the weather will be ok this weekend as I hope to reassemble the trim on my drive.

I've got the W123 back! The arches are done and apart from a couple of minor issues, I am very pleased with the result. I am pleased with the finish and match of the paintwork. This little rough blob of filler could have been smoothed better before the wing was painted. I can deal with this myself. Looking good! The bodywork man has painted the inner arches black. Fortunately, he used metal paint rather than sticky underseal, so I should be able to coat over the black with cream coloured paint without any problems. Also, he painted the rear sections of the sills black - not good. I will have to paint the length of both sills grey, as per the original finish. This isn't a major problem as the jacking points need a coat of paint anyway. The inside of the arches and rear wings have been coated with black paint. Bearing in mind all the metal areas will be covered with plastic boot liners, I don't propose to do anything else in here. Things to do:Make good the rough bit of filler. Rust treat the dented right corner of the rear wing. Paint the underside of the arches cream. Paint the sills grey. Squirt underseal / wax into the front section of the arches. Clean off overspray from plastic trim (there's not much). Re-assemble trim. Re-assemble electric aerial. Drill holes (!) and re-fit the trim located along the bottom of the arches / rear of doors. Re-assemble the interior. Give the car a bloody good clean! Things not to do:Re-fit the rear mud guards. Bolting them on will damage the fresh paint and create a mud / moisture trap. Drive the car in the rain - EVER!

I had the pleasure of taking my boss's car home last night. It's an Audi A5 2.0 TFSi Convertible. What can I say, it looks amazing and drives a treat. It's up for sale if any of you have a spare £28k? I've been assigned as the company car administrator in the office. To sell the car we needed photographs. Here are few I took yesterday.

Looking very good there.
I would have bitched about it, but fixed it myself too(the little niggles)
I think it's a job well done.
Now you can finish it up yourself. ;D

Ah yes, the aerial hole. I will be rust treating it (with corrosion inhibitor gel) and slapping on a couple of coats of Hammerite. Good reminder!

Wow, they have everything!! We are not that lucky over here.
Although, I can get many second hand body parts from scrapyards and lights, electrics and other spares are carried by one or two big companies here in Johannesburg.
