That does look good! A couple of questions:
Do you know why it is fitted with 280E spec bumpers? Do you know why it has a Zebrano wood strip on the dash front but not on the central console?
Nice car though, looks in great condition.
Thanks, there is no rust on this car - Checked all the places that you said to.
About the bumpers and trim, I think that's how it came out in South Africa.

I need some help, please. I need a pdf version of the owner's manual and the manual for the radio - Becker Mexico Diversity, radio cassette player.
I have searched a bit online, but get mostly dead links or sites that require reg or money upfront.
If anyone has this, please share.

Oh, I didn't realise that South African spec W123s were kitted out with 280E spec bumpers.
I do have the original handbook for my car but I don't have facilities to scan the whole thing in and email it. If you require anythng specific let me know and I will try and respond. BTW, I have seen the original handbooks sell on UK EBay for a few quid.

Very nice car indeed - She's a beaut!!
I need to know how the aircon and vent controls work.
The wheel that you turn should have a sticker on it to show something, it does not.
Also how to let fresh air in or block it.
Cheers

That surely looks like a tricky job, good luck with that.
I need to pick your brain some more:
I have 3 loose wires in my bootlid and something on the inside that it needs to connect to.
Any ideas on what that is and which go where?
Also on the inside where the electric aerial goes there is a motor of some kind, what is this? - Not the electric aerial - I am only getting it on the weekend. Ta

Ta Three loose wires might be something to do with the boot light? It sits on the inside of the boot lid on the vertical face so it points down when the boot is open. The motor you mention is probably the sunroof mechanism if you have one fitted.

My car has a sunroof that works perfectly, so that's what the motor is for, thanks. If you don't mind me asking, how would I troubleshoot the pneumatic headlight control unit - seems it's dead......

Hmm, my 230E doesn't have a boot light.
With regard to the headlight height control mechanism, I would start by checking the condition of the vacuum pipes. Any splits or cracks?

You might not notice that you have a boot light - there's no plastic lens - just a bulb holder recessed into one of the cutouts of the inner skin of the boot between the star badge and the 230 lettering.

Boot light: I found mine, but don't seem to have any power there. Will check it out on the weekend in the daytime. I will be installing my electric aerial on the weekend, so there's a power wire that's loose there, think it's for the boot light.... Headlights: My RH light has a purple pipe and it's got a y connector that's open - LH light has no pipe, but connector open - Will bridge to LH side with some pipe, think that's where the problem is. One pipe missing!! tx guys

Update on the arches (photographs taken yesterday). All rust has been cut out along the bottom of the arches / within the boot recessed areas. The metalwork repairs should be done by close of play today. The rear wings are being sprayed on Monday so I should have the car back home early next week. Despite the bodywork man's assurances that he will coat, seal and mastic all the new joints, I intend to rust-proof the new metal from every angle. I will clean and re-paint the arches from the underside, the same way I did a couple of summers ago. I will paint the inside of the rear wing and rear arch, where possible, via the boot. However, the inner side of the arch towards the front of the rear wing cannot be accessed from inside the boot. I propose to buy a sealant / waxoil (?) with a tube attachment and squirt it via the first three side trim fixing holes down into the arch area. Can anyone recommend a suitable product? I want something I can buy off the shelf.
