^ Looking good
Sorry for the semi threadjack but Are you gonna be putting the B engine up for sale?
Reason I ask is my brother is looking for an engine to rebuild/tune for his BGT over the summer months this year and fit over the winter months at the end of 2006 beginning of 2007
His current engine is running fine (ie doesn't smoke or rattle but is very leggy and a little down on power) but he doesn't want to have the car off the road for ages while he rebuilds the current engine
Plans are
Convert head to unleaded Porting & Webber conversion Mild road cam Decent headers Rebore (maybe 1875 if possible)
Let me know ta

Well to be honest i was going to keep the engine to rebuild as it does have problems.... I had been using the engine regular for trackdays, however when i did my last trackday at Donington in December it starting smoking heavily on the way home So it needs a strip down to see whats gone wrong, suspected piston rings so should be a fairly straight forward rebuild providing it hasn't scored the bores... However, if i change my mind i'll let you know if i plan to sell it Did some more work on the MG today but the progress was a bit slower than i expected but the tunnel is now modified for the lt77 gearbox i will post some pictures later.

Some photo's although some steps are missing as we got a bit carried away and forgot to take pic's Tunnel is cut open from the underneath after the spot welds have been drilled, The front skin of the centre console is then tapped over to allow room for the tunnel to be raised (does not need to be perfect as it will all be hidden by the centre console when its fitted), Then imagine lots of hammering of the tunnel to allow extra clearance (missing pics ) once we had got the clearance we wanted. It was then all welded up and you can see the new strips of metal used to join the now higher tunnel, From the top although it was attacked with a hammer again after this pic to raise it even more wilst the metal was hot from the welding as it stretched much easier whilst hot. A picture from the front all welded up and finished, but its a shame on the engine bay pic above you can't see it, but the front of the tunnel originally started off very straight with a double skinned lip and as you can see it now has a curve and is raised. Just needs the welds grinding down and some underseal/paint Should be some more pic's tomorrow....

Finally got the engine in this morning and it went it really well only took about an hour to fit Here's some piccys, The manifolds are very close to the inner wings but this has been the same on every other v8 conversion i've looked at and there is quite a bit of adjustment left on the engine mounts so i'm hoping i can gain a bit more clearance. Just enough clearance for the anti roll bar! I now need to get round this, I'm going to look at getting a smaller filter and there is also a 10mm spacer on the carb that i can remove but i will still need to a bulge of somekind. Things left to do are - modify the gearbox crossmember, connect all the senders, speedo & cooling system, fit rad etc. Sort out the bonnet and then change the diff for something more suitable!

You could Cut away some of that inner wing, Or what a friend of mine did, and that was to beat it out a bit. Did you change the engine mount rubbers?

I've fitted new RV8 engine mounts, with these d/side mount is bigger to give extra clearance for the steering collumn, starter etc. I'm going to see how the mainfolds go before i modify the inner wings but my only concern is that they might knock against the wings under acceleration but i'll find out soon enough!
