I managed to find the effort to do some work on the cars today I got stuck into to doing some more prep work on the beetle as i have really got to get it finished this winter as it's been going on for almost 5 years now on and off!!! I then did a bit on the mg and fitted the rear anti roll bar back on as i removed it last week, as i was told that the anti roll bar would be making the rear of the car to stiff and in turn it would be more likely to spin on hard cornering . So i removed it just to see what difference it made and i preferred it with so i have fitted it again! Then i worked on my bro's bmw for a bit as it failed its mot on a few easy fixes. Some pics to make this thread a little bit interesting a bit of each

Nice one, love the Beetle, I'd like to own one at some point, are they porka rims? That MG would look the bizzo on a set of Minilites, 15" for looks or the FIA 14" type for handling >>> Thats what we are fitting on ours along with a set of cut slicks. What plans have you got for it? My day was productive but not as productive as what I'd liked it to have been. Managed to hook out an engine with my new crane, cleared out some of the garage and spent most of the evening on the phone to different mates and a couple of random birds Did you buy Classics Monthly in the end?

I ended up buying the mag in the end, couldn't resist! plus your trackday bit was worth a read! well done I'm planning to do a v8 conversion on the mg, already got the engine and whilst i'm doing that i want to fit a sebring body kit and i'll be fitting sebring valences aswell, so the bumpers will be going. Then i need to choose some rims to fill out the sebring arches but i'm not sure what rims yet? But none of thats goign to happen until i finish the beetle! so the idea was i bought the v8 and then that would give me the kick up the i needed to finish the beetle and then i can work on the mg......and it seems to have worked so far.... They are porka rims on the beetle off a boxster Got any pics of your mg? can't remember seeing any? Cheers Gav

I had quite a good day too, the Weber has been given me grief since RCS so i decided this morning to Rebuild it and fit the new jets so I did and its running sweet and feels a dam site more responsive. Next week the engine is coming out to fit my Vernier Timing gears, So i should be getting a bit more performance

i spent the weekend helping my sister and her partner with their new house.
on sat we took all the old kitchen to the dump and carpets etc and also stripped the wall paper in the living room, and yesterday, we pulled down the celling in the dining room and kitchen, and then took it all to the dump - the back of my mum's car looks a right mess now!

Good work everyone, more impressive than my simple yet effective motivational tasks. After charlie browns wanted £64 for a battery for the sierra V8, i scavanged a perfectly good one out of my dads yard for 6 pints of milk! Also got round the oil change on the cvh as i was on borrowed time! heres a non action pic! GavinJ, i think in my PPC mag pilot; RPM magazine, there is a thing on V8 sebring MG's, a brief how to.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

On Saturday, I finally moved the Sprite from my uncle's driveway (which is where it's been for the last month since the engine died) back to the nice warm warehouse where it is normally kept. Borrowed a friend's very large Brian James flatbed trailer to tow the Sprite - overkill I know as the Sprite is only about 650kg, but it did the job. The Amazon managed ok, but I don't think it would want to tow that particular trailer for a long distance, as it is quite heavy.... Must have been an interesting sight though! The Sprite was soaking wet inside (my own fault for using the tonneau cover rather than the hood when I left it at my uncle's) so in order to take out the carpets, the seats and runners had to be removed first, which wasn't fun as there's minimal ground clearance to access the other end ot the bolts It's dry indide now & with the carpets out most of the floor looks ok, and a large amount appears original too - highly unusual for a Spridget of this age! Still needs few repairs though :-(

I loved welding in the New floor pans on my Midget, Becuase they have that nice box section between the seat pan and foot pan which makes the job neater in my view. Was a while ago now since i did mine.

I'm in awe of what GavinJ, Keefy and others have been up to this weekend.
With the able assistance of my two-year old daughter, cleaned three of my cars plus my wife's, and put new thermostat into the Laurel so hopefully it'll warm up quicker on forthcoming cold journeys. My daughter loves helping, and it was a great excuse for us just to be out in the fantastic autumn sunshine. She thinks I can mend everything - at some point she'll be horribly disappointed....
Cleaning the yellow Skyline reminded me that it is basically a tidy car and I really ought to do something with it, similar to reanimation's thoughts on "simple yet effective motivational tasks".

Well yesterday was not exactly productive. I was supposed to be going round to assist my mates Mini weldathon, but finished yo spending the whole day putting up some external lights on my house. A tiresome task.
Maybe next weekend will be better. I'm thinking the LandRover may well be returning from the garage in the next few days so I can commence on giving it a few "Retro-Rides" style touches! ;D

I've had a hilariously bad day, I haven't even had time to work on any motors. I was in the town centre trying to get a job today, still no luck as of yet although there are a few places who say they'll let me know, then I was out with a girl (which didn't go as well as it might have done! ), then afterwards I had to get a train back, because the Imp's out of action just now while I rub it down for repainting plus do some work on the interior, that and my ankle still hurts a bit and I've been advised not to drive anything since it's still a bit stiff. Anyway, the plan was to get on at Greenock Central station and jump off at Cartsdyke, which is the nearest station to where I live in the East end of Greenock. Problem being, little did I know that due to some whim of our marvellous public trasnport system, they had decided the train wouldn't be stopping again until the town centre of Port Glasgow, i.e. in the next bloody town, a few miles from where I had planned to stop! At least the conductor was too busy chasing neds up and down the carriages trying to get their fares off them to notice I hadn't bothered to pay mine. Seeing as by this time I barely had enough money to pay the train fare, let alone get a taxi back to Greenock, and neither the trains nor the buses would be going back that way for a good while, the end result was a quite agonising walk home, after which I'm in no fit state to be working on the Imp. There's a good reason I don't use public transport! So in short I haven't had a productive day, I'd have a rant about the public transport system and how there are poverty-stricken former southern Soviet republics with more reliable public transport systems than ours, but it's a bit off topic really, and besides that I'm too bloody sore to think about much else!
