Ingredients:- One hare brained sketch by a slightly Triumph-obsessed young lad, preferably drawn about 3 years ago. Very detailed, seemingly do-able. - One willing Father (it's his), who turns up with the ideal doner car out of the blue and says "OK, now what?". - One perfectly timed engine and transmission sale. Instructions:- Leave for one year. - Fettle, build and grind for a year in what little spare time is availiable. Do not run - it may disturb the mix. Leave to settle some more. Serving suggestions:- Fresh fuel and battery as garnish. - Single silencer. - Completely unknown everything preferred. .....Still a long way to go - but it's getting there.

At the moment it's got a fuelling problem - the carb's a bit of an unknown and been stood for years. The main jets are either wrong, or partially blocked - they don't flow any fuel at idle. That's what causes it to die if you try to throttle up, unless you really crack it open like in the 2nd vid at which point they start flowing. It only idles on what you pump in via the accelerator jets, which is why it dies a lot - the result of this being that you need to pump a truckload of fuel down it's neck and every now and then it'll find a spark at the wrong point when trying to start it Easily fixed though Will put up some info and some previous history shots in a bit - still a bit dizzy from the fumes

Don't worry Qwerty - I've never posted about it before! It's still got a fair bit left to do on it - interior refit (and fitting, in some instances), various tidying up, finalising the cooling system and some cosmetic stuff (filling in where the Webasto was) but it's almost driveable now! All Toledos were RWD - but this one now has a Sprint axle to handle the power! It's supposed to be 'the factory car that wasn't' - so it's mostly Triumph bits like the 4 speed overdrive transmission, Sprint axle, some HL interior trim, those kind of things - and the Stag V8, of course! It boasts a whole range of upgrades now too - as well as a Sprint rear axle to put the power down, it has Gaz adjustable platform dampers, lower/stiffer springs, a massive Sprintparts racing vented disc kit with big single piston sliding calipers, braided hoses, full Superflex suspension bushes, sports exhaust system, a custom interior to go in, alloy radiator, alloy header tank, oil cooler, custom wiring.....and more! Final colour is as yet undecided - Mum thinks it should stay beige though!

I think the Wolfrace wheels look great!...Makes it look like a baby muscle car!
How 'easy' was the V8 install? I know there is a lot of commonality between the Dolly engine and the Stag V8 (although obviously the Toledo has the 1500 PE94J engine), but was it the proverbial 'drop in'?

Lew, Holleys don't sit unused well. If you know someone who's handy with carbs, get it taken down to its bits, soaked, blown, rubber freshened, and then re-set to List No. specs.
I have quite a comprehensive Holley Factory Official Lie-Berry, if the thing has been shagged out by previous ownerz, we can inform you of all the settings, original jets, and anything else.
All I need is the List No, which is stamped on the airhorn.
This is a service presented to you Lewis, if you will turn off that maddening Hunter Thompson animation on your avatar. It's slowly killing me and driving me mad. 'K? ;D
