Team Blitz, that's ace - and yea, I will I think - it's beginning to bug me too! I'll dig up the number. I assume it's a 390 as anything else would seem totally OTT for the little 183ci mill, although it will reputedly rev well up to 7k.
A good clean and rebuild are on the cards just to make sure it's OK - I'll remember they don't store well! This one's been sat in a shed for years and was an unknown when we got it!
I hadn't thought of fuel pressure, badfish - we nabbed the electric fuel pump the engine came with and have used that with no regulator and that was on a good running car without issues. I'll put the gauge on it and see, just in case something's changed.
Pog, it's an inch lower now at least on it's new springs and yet to settle - so it should stand right and still be useable. The Stag exhaust comes really low so that, as with most V8 Triumphs, is the hangup!
Zapp - (My memory's a bit hazy on this as it's been a long time now but here goes) Using the Sprint subframe you only have to modify the engine mount for the other side of the Stag block (move it back an inch or so). The transmission crossmember is a Sprint item, as it takes the same mounting points on both the shell and the 'box, which pretty much completes the fitment!
One of those rare conversions which almosts "bolts right in....." - a lot of the mounting points are there from the factory, just unused - or the same as the other cars. Only minor fettling and adjustment here and there required - it even uses the stock manifolds
It's still difficult but at least loads of fabbing isn't required
Cooling is the real issue, just down to the lack of space in the nose as the Stag has a longer front end and this sucks up the space for the radiator. So far the car's only had a little removed from the front panel to make a recess for the radiator - at the moment it's running a 'temporary' alloy radiator out of a Fiat and the end plan is to add the front valance from a P6 (the one with the vent) to allow a deeper radiator to be fitted which should see the cooling (along with slimline electric fans and an oil cooler) well under control. Either that or a trip to Allisport to fabricate something.
It's rolling now and pretty much driveable too, as the brakes, suspension, steering, handbrake and so on are all fitted and hooked up. The wiring's almost done too, it now runs but it's just the final interior tidying and fitment that needs doing.
Chrome rocker covers are on the shelf ready to be fitted too

This was not fun. The van got stuck about 15 feet from the garage and the engine crane started sinking too - then the chain snapped with the engine hanging off it, with one of those heart-stopping moments where everything slows right down.
Fortunately the engine landed in the relatively soft mud on the starter solenoid, which took the entire brunt of the fall
