uk-passats.com? Or .co.uk, I can never remember. Built like tanks, incredibly spacious but still quite nimble with a few tricks, can be lowered with Golf struts and springs. Go for a GL at least as they're 2 litres - I'm sure the CLs were 1.8s and a bit gutless - and being underpowered means crapper mpg. They're also more likely to have niceties like the MFA computer and electric windows and mirrors. The GT 16v is a brilliant beast if you can find one, VR6s are rarer still. Earlier cars are better built - not that the B35 isn't, of course, it's just not as good as the B3. Later column stalks are a good upgrade, though - the lego-like earlier ones feel quite nasty to use in comparison the the later, rounder ones.

G60 Syncro for a bit of semi Q-car appeal, and an awesome noise.

Interesting that all the moded ones are estates..... ;D I'm liking these ones: Mum used to have one (step dad had bought it new) - can't remember if it was a CL or a GL. Didn't endear me to them though, as I found it very uncomfortable on long journeys (not enough under thigh support) but they are quite pleasantly styled machines.

I'm really not keen on the saloons at all but the estate are very cool imo. seems to be the popular view.

Might be tempted to let my current whip go (i don't normally keep cars for more than 3 months!) as I fancy another Alfa 156 or Seat Toledo V5. Its a 2.0 8v GL with fully working MFA and still returns 37mpg on a run! Quite nippy too despite the size. PM me for more details. Also that Italian (since when did the Italians have POLIZEI on the side of their cars!) but GERMAN police B3 was mine but sold it last summer.

I too used to have a red hatred but on certain cars it looks great. Main reason for wanting a red one this time was to slap FEUERWEHR on the front doors and blue light for the shows to get the el cheepo German fire car look Yes I am a one trick pony! Anyway its got long t+t, big wheels and coilovers so got to be worth 600 quid.
