Well the inevitable happened on saturday, it was my first event of this year, at Wiscombe.
The Lotus was running very sweetly after dry sumping it over the winter and a few other odds and ends.
It was extremely wet, with standing water all over the place but after one slow but manageable run I was leading the class. Then second practice run I hit a puddle in between Wis corner and Bunnies Leap, after a massive tank slapper I slid down the hill into a bank head on at about 50-60.
We stripped it down on sunday, took the engine and box out, the front suspension, the bodywork etc off. The chassis is pretty bent in front of the engine bay and the rear bounced off a tree (nasty but superficial), luckily though the majority of the chassis is pretty intact.
Anyway it goes off to Arch Motors tomorrow to repair the chassis and repanel it.
..... and before you ask, I didn't take any pictures, I couldn't bring myself to have any lasting reminders of it bar my very depleted bank account.
