Not a Sport, but I had 3 of them. A 1.0 Dimension with absolutely nothing wrong with it for 80 from.the scrappers, one someone rolled in the backs I used for spares and this 1.1 Echo, that ate 3 gearboxes in 6 months. Affectionately named Toilet, thanks to the plate.

I love it, I don't think I released there was a sport model before the GTI. Loving the fact that morette headlights were available as a factory upgrade too!

There are a few cars like this that so few were either built or imported into the UK not many know about them. Along similar lines there was the Nova sport which if fitted with all the tuning bits were great fun to drive.

Can vouch for a warmed over nova sport. This was my mates...he totally totalled it in a total way but boy would it poke on and make a glorious row in the process.

I had an AX GT (1.4, carb and steelies) when I worked on Practical Classics and I utterly loved it, it was so light and cleverly built it was like a Lotus hatchback. I did thrash the living daylights out of it mind you and when I passed it onto another jouno I think he decided it was terminally knackered. I'm sure it wasn't that bad... I wouldn't pay what they must go for these days, if you can find one, but god I have good memories of that car.
Also had a £100 AX 1.0 that I bought for my then girlfriend to learn to drive in and used as a daily for a couple of years. Can't even remember what happened to it, though I do remember an old lady driving into the back of it when it was parked outside the house and it ended up with an odd coloured rear bumper.
