I guess emptier roads lend themselves to these records. Red Bull Garage in New York to Portofino Inn, California in 26 hours is the new record No more details beyond that video yet. As this is Retro Rides let's have a look at those that did the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash in 1971 (winning time 35 and 54 minutes) Read more about the original run here allamericanracers.com/first-cannonball-run/

I still have the original theme music including screaming V12 Lamborghini as my ring tone.
Absolutely LOVE the film. And that record is something else.

I have a bit of an obsession with the Cannonball and have managed to get a copy of the book “Cannonball!” Signed by Brock Yates along with a crossed out 55mph sign signed by Ed Bolian who held the record for a while. I think they are probably my most prized possessions! There is something special about the whole thing and it harks beck to a simpler era where nobody really gave a curse word and just wanted to have a laugh. How would I go about get the theme as a ringtone? I had a look on iTunes but I couldn’t see it.

Watched the film countless times, and it never gets old!
I'm not sure if it was the above record or not, but was there not one just as lock down began, and they were told it wouldn't be held as official due to the current situation? I could be wrong on that but thought i'd seen it somewhere...

I ran a line out of the TV and recorded it direct to CD using a CD writer I had in my stack system. This was back in about 2004. I then converted it to MP3 and there you go. I am sure you could somehow make a recording from the DVD using computer software these days but I am not an expert by any means. I have never downloaded a song in my life and I have no idea how to use iTunes, Spotify etc.

Save the audio , edit with ringtone maker , job done.

Vinwiki on YouTube is worth a look for some great cannonball stories. The Transcon Medivac ambulance was real along with the part in the film where they get pulled and they string a story about the girl in the back. “Cists, on the walls of her lungs”🤣🤣

Am I obsessed with the Cannonball run movie? Enough to go and visit the filming locations for the start line (in a scary part of Decatur, Georgia) and then last year to visit the Portofino Inn where the finish line was. You can see my pictures if you are interested on my Rewound and found website here; rewoundandfound.com/the-cannonball-run/Dave.

Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey fame set the fastest time a few years ago. Thatd why he has the stopwatch tattooed on his forearm... (Or at least, thats what he says in his book)
