Bought this last week, nice little 400 mile round trip up to Crewe and back. Had to drag it out of a little garage it had sat in for 34yrs and down a long drive but all went well. Already viewed this a few weeks previous and the only reason I wanted it was because there is no rot anywhere that I can find as I don't do bodywork. It will need a respray as nearly every panel has a few light rust spots. Mechanically the engine turns the clutch is free but the brakes are stuck on. what a find! absolutely beautiful car!
just my opinion: if this is the original paint etc just live with the rust or try to find a very good painter who can fix only the damaged parts with smart repair. original paint is original paint- you'll never get it back. every time a car like this is getting "restored" to look better than new means a original car is lost forever. clean it. fix it. be happy to have an original survivor!

^Exactly what he said. An unrestored survivor car is always way cooler than a restoration.

Underseal everywhere on this car in every opening and the underneath is exactly the same.

Yep that's the plan, besides I can only do mechanics,ha. You and me both mate. I always prefer to go for a cleanskin. Mechanical things are a finite cost while chasing rust goes on forever.

If you had a black engine bay similar to under-seal that was actually a factory applied option for the whole car and called Zibart you should find small yellow plugs in sill ends and other places on the car with a "Z" on them, which is probably the reason why the car has survived.
I had the exact same on my 72 Mk3 Septre.

I'm not envious, oh no not me, I'm not envious at all, I always grind my teeth this way. Nope, envious, who me? Not at all. Well maybe a bit envious, not much, on a scale of 1 to 10, maybe a little 9 on the envious scale............

What a find!! It really does like a great example! Keeping the original paint is the way I’d go too, I can’t get over how good the interior looks!

Great looking car. Hopefully doesn’t take much to put it back on the road.
