Ever bid on something on eBay, not expecting to win...
But then you win it and youre not really sure what your life has come to?
Last week a mate of mine, Guy, sent a link to a group chat of this god awful Chevrolet Corsica that was on £220
Thought it could be a funny project, bidded £350 with no expectation of actually winning it.
Roll around to today at 7:45am and I'm realising the brakes aren't very good whilst rolling it off a trailer.
Had no battery so stole the one from the 944, terminals the wrong way but fear not, steal the 944 earth strap and jobs a good'n, started 1st time.
I feel this bodge will be how this car continues to go on lol!
Anyway, obv suspension was all the way down when I got it, so here it is 'aired out'
1st thing I did once the tank had filled, made sure the air works, can confirm it does just that
Shot of the front too (bare rake yo)
Gave it a wash, realised the roof had glitter flake in
It's an absolute curse word to get into reverse, but I backed it into the unit ready to crack on.
Some weird curse word going on with this odd box;
Causing the door open signal to go off none stop, even with the key out of the ignition, also making the O/S lights flash, making a relay type noise.
Messed around with it and figured out itd still start and all work with this left unplugged, but no longer caused the weird flashing lights etc, buzzing.
This was under the dash too, no idea what it is
Some other random interior shots
Defo some water getting in, could grow my own veg in that carpet.
Boot/air bits
This thing has speakers everywhere I look, whoever did these mods liked their awful ICE, its got a dvd player in the dash that isn't working too.
Air install seems to be a chassistech kit, just googled it, $1800 worth new.
Looks like it could be dropped lower, but the shock will be in the CV joint, annoying as more lows be decent.
Engine bay;
Car has since stopped running, ignition switch fault I believe. Going to just bypass it with a push start if I cant fix it, the loom has been properly butchered in places.
And now for the fun bit, the sills.
Description read "bottom of sills need welding but that is the worst of it"
If you didn't poke it I can see why you would think this, go at it with a screwdriver and well.... hahahaha
Is it bad that the starting issue is getting to me more than the sills.
Sills I know I can fix, electrical issues go over my head though, not a clue what I'm doing with them.
Drove back from the unit today and it proper got me down, I was going to cut my losses and scrap it, sell air and wheels.
Sudden change of heart once id gotten in, had pizza and tea. Tea fixes everything right?
Now then, My plan is to get this to the weekender in May, looking a little different and actually all working (ish)
Time is against me though as I've got to get it out of the unit sooner rather than later, no room for it.
Basically it needs to be ready for MOT in approx 2-3 weeks, after last seeing an MOT tester in 2008... wish me luck.
So far it's taken me a day to fix the relay light beeping issue, the rear passenger door and the bonnet catch.
On target I think at this pace?
Anyone on here any advise with this? Wheres good for parts? Anyone have knowledge on them? Should I just scrap it? Am I an idiot?
Also, this acceptable for the deadline display at the weekender? It's going to be just as awful as it is now but road legal with different wheels.
Last pic, got a great exhaust on it
