This is, because I am not a smart man, my third Rover 800 series. That means I currently own two (the first went in the bin a long time ago).
The other one is a 1999 V 800 Vitesse Sport saloon. It's currently in bits and needs a lot of love, but it's getting there.
The new one is this, a 1992 827SLi saloon. But get this, it's a manual. Quite a rare beast.
With full MOT and just 82k on the clock, it was a no brainer. I had to have it. Though in all honesty, had it been an auto I would have passed on it. It's the manual that, to me, makes it special.
It's all on the road and driving, but it does need a lot of love. Prior to me buying it, it was holed up inside an old dealership since 2003. As such ,it needs a major service including all the belts etc. There's a weird ticking noise from the offside rear, the radio doesn't work, the heater doesn't work (but given it's a Rover, I'll take cold over hot), the steering wheel isn't on straight and the body has loads of little dings and scrapes.
Plan is to treat it as a rolling restoration. Get it looking and running as good as I possibly can. I have to say though, I have fallen for it. The engine is ourtageously smooth. It's like driving a mattress.
Anyway, there you go, my new (old) Rover...
