So o add to C4 Cactus and Panda 100hp: Honda Jazz (1st gen modern) Honda City (80's) Honda Civic IMA (1st one) Honda CR-Z Golf Plus (love our battered one, needs 4 motion and 400bhp though) Subaru Forester (mk1 turbo in 2 tone) Audi all roads Volvo Cross country Citroën C2 Toyota Tercel Honda Civic Shuttle Nissan Pao Toyota Urban Cruiser Suzuki SX4 Suzuki Ignis
Insert loads of obscure 70/80/90's Japanese cars and vans that were probably a bit rubbish when they were new.
Would love a Lexus GS or LS but don't consider those to be unappreciated enough for this thread lol

Must resist the temptation!!!!! Been punting this around Queenstown, it's SLOW, but soooooooo much fun scaring asian tourists on some of the gravel back roads into Paradise etc They'd never see a white avenger in the dust + potential issues with ground clearance & lack of wading ability, (rust holes will let the water back out pretty quick though) I don't NEED A 4WD!!!!! My rule of thumb is- the further you go, the deeper you bury it & the further the walk back.

I have never owned a BL, Austin, Rover etc car before but I love reading about them (on AROnline for example) and like most from the 70s, 80’s and 90’s.
So basically my desire is to own one very soon and tick that box. I would imagine it is not a motoring desire of the masses! I would imagine these days it’s to own a BMW 1 series or Audi A3 or something equally unimaginative...

A lot of my odd fancies have already been mentioned, but one that hasn't is the Honda Stream.

A lot of my odd fancies have already been mentioned, but one that hasn't is the Honda Stream. Used to own one and always thought it would make an awesome sleeper. They are pretty slippy (130mph as std) and with a 2l vtech already in a supercharged civic lump swap and legend wheels and slight drop would be awesome. Handled pretty well on skinny 195 15’s loose 100kg of back seats and go hunting....

Was this ford's response to the fiero? Pretty much I think. Except it had the engine in the front as I remember and it was front wheel drive. Not what you'd call a popular car at all!

Please don't judge but for a while I've really fancied: They're just sooooo bland and no one "does" them, add that to the fact that they're basically a Volvo S40 so coilovers are fairly cheap and 4x114.3 PCD means nice wheels are available! I also have an irrational love for Rover 400/45/ZS's and Rover 75/ZT's...... Tom

Just stummbled across these, although I feel absolutely nothing for luxo barges, I do for these: ... ... Not for their poshness, but for their brave design! Stunning bits of wedge! Have one in a heart beat

Whilst on a quest to find a boring cheap to run modern reliable totaly naff daily, I discovered these, what I never new existed. Daihatsu Materia. Now I want one like I wanted a Nissan Cube a while back but couldnt put up with an auto. Everyone one else ive shown so far seems to think it looks rubbish, but thats been the same with every other car ive ever owned. Right up my street then.

The three off the top of my head are: - Fiat X1/9 - Citroen BX TD - Lexus LS400
I idea why, but I adore the looks of the X1/9.
I’ve never been a fan of Citroen’s until seeing some of the fantastic ones there are about. The deal sealer was BrianDamaged’s old BX.
and the Lexus, I just want to pretend to be a Freemason 😋

I've just bought a Renault Zoe, which is a bit of a bland new car. I quite fancy a Renault Avantime, but I guess the dirty hankering I have is for a battered pickup or a Merc 308 or Vito. Bike transport and general rattiness. Oh yeah, and I'd love a 1st gen Audi S8 or RS6 estate to belt about in. I can probably afford one, and maybe even the petrol, but definitely not the repaid bills!

They're Toyota bb's in some other lands. Tom

Are they, y'know, actualy good n'stuff?

Another minimalist eurocar of questionable build quality, The Renault Twingo Mk1. When I went to Europe in the mid 90s these were all over the place and I loved them. Shame they were never officially sold over in the UK.

I came very close to dying in a Renault Twingo being driven around Cephalonia by a very genial and blind drunk local at top speed on twisty, rubble strewn mountain roads with a sheer drop on one side. I have no idea how we survived as we were flat out for over an hour in the pitch black of night. I have to assume he was actually a very skilled professional rally driver because the alternative - that he was just too drunk to recognise he was driving insanely quickly on incredibly dangerous roads - is almost too much to bear.
So I have always loved the Twingo. It managed to hang on where many others would have lost their grip and understeered me into the afterlife.

... Not seen a DS done - (but there probably is one somewhere) I would keep the suspension has factory original but a DS estate with a large Chevy V8 - now that would be pretty cool Have one example known of here: Very nice - I have to say either modified or unmodified the DS is one very sexy motor

The bB had a better sound system (was sold as a "Music Box for the younger generation") and cool blue dash lighting, but they're yaris running gear underneath. I like them as well, but the one thing I dislike about them, as well as the cube is that they're auto only, and it makes for a very boring drive.

R4. My mom had one when I first got my licence. So I throroughly explored the limits of its handling... And I helped her switch to rear engine Fiats when the tin worm claimed it. But after all these years, I guess I still have a soft spot for it...

Not good since I've too many projects. Always said & thought anything over 2l & 1000kg was just foolishly decadent for myself. Love the practicality of my 3dr hatch 'coupes'. Already stretched those limits with Lancia Beta coupes & some Cortinas. DC2 Integra Definately & deceptively overweight @ 1200kg (& undecided about weight loss). Prelude heavier, less practical. Still desire. & since Parents had a '76 CX 2200 when I was young..
