I don't really see any automotive desire as 'dirty', after all if you like it, do it! I think a Chrysler PT Cruiser is the ugliest, cheapest looking dollop ever manufactured but apparently there's a 'scene' for those too. As per another thread, British Leyland cars are accepted as being 'curse word' by most people but I'd take a Marina any day and they are pretty well regarded on this forum. See? Cool.

1.2 turbo, tuned and stanced would be a perfect daily for me. Quite a few more but toddler running riot atm I like to think of the Fiat Panda as the impoverished person's Nissan Cube. I fancied a Cube when last went car shopping but couldn't find one in my price range, hence the little blue thing (Pandora) I see outside now. (Not a 100hp like the one above, unfortunately but the cheap tax and abstemious fuel consumption makes up for it.) I think the Citroen Cactus looks cool too. (as does the Edsel station wagon and MK4 Zephyr) Anyway I don't believe in guilty pleasures. If we all followed the officially appointed taste makers in the mainstream press the streets would be full of nothing but Golfs and BMWs.

Oh yes...I’d love an old bus I remember riding on a p13 from Peckham rye when I was a kid a great single decker and then riding on the number 36 routemaster double decker in the Peckham and camberwell area circa 1973 I’ve always looked at these at shows fantastic old motors

My wife would love a Cactus but I'm 6'6" and cannot get behind the wheel without my knees hitting something. So she isn't getting her Cactus.
Whereas my dirty car secret would be a Morris Minor ragtop.

Always wanted one of these Been told by “experts” it was one of fords worst cars I want one!!! To be fair, this probaby WAS one of the worst cars Ford ever made, heavy, slow, ungainly, thirsty and prone to overheating. Not to mention the rampant tinworm that goes without saying! None of this has stopped me from owning 4 of them, including a rare Zephyr 6 Farnham estate. However I also have owned 14 MkIIs (2 Farnham Zodiac Autos amongst them) and 8 MkIIIs (Mostly Zodiacs) I like the MkIV it's definitely quirky (and now VERY rare) but the earlier Z cars are MUCH better cars! But if you can find one, go right ahead and buy it, at least you'll have near exclusivity! And I agree with Zeb about the Skoda Rapid. I have a long held ambition to buy one and fit it with a mid mounted V8. It was GOING to be a Rover V8 mated to an audi 200 transaxle in the original dream, but time has caught up with my ambitions and delivered an all Audi solution in the form of the 4.2V8 and trans. And somehow, even more fitting now as VAG own Skoda. The only problem now is that, when the dream was born, you could buy 3 MOT'd Rapids for £100, which is rather no longer the case! I doon't regard the Rapid as a dirty secret ambition, and I can't think of anything I like that would qualify. About the only thing in that direction I would turn my hand to is to mod SWMBO's Picasso. I have owned a Maxi, Hobsons choice, it was the last car through an auction and I needed to get home about 30 miles, It didn't make it! Certainly wouldn't buy another! Steve

Another car I like which probably wouldn't be approved of by the hardcore petrolheads:- Honda HRV I obviously have a thing for those vertical tailights.

I fully understand that in these computerised walls these two cars are well loved by many. Me included! But if I try to have the same conversation with most of my mates they laugh and tell me about a Grandad in the 80’s who had one of them or about the one Clarkson had and the door “just fell off!” Yea yea I know, but regardless of the common perception I just like them. Hence I hide my secret and only share it with you lot.

Before I found my Firebird I spied a 67 Zodiac MOD that was, supposedly, originally a Police pursuit vehicle. I was seriously interested but, after asking some basic questions and finding that the seller was a bit of a dick, I looked elsewhere. I remember as a 5yr old in 1970 being taken out in a Metallic Green Executive by my Dad who was taking it back to his boss. I confess that I have loved them from afar ever since.
