I had a Mk5 cortina 1.6L that went over 500K back in the early 90s, it only ever had an oil pump and servicing and had been minicabbed since new, that was the highest by a fair margin, the Mondeo is on 130K and my current pug 106 has just tipped 190K and TBH the engine is the only thing on it worth a fig, i'll be keeping the engine when i scrap it next feb (too much rot on the arsend) , the most i ever put on a car was just over 100K in 3 years cabbing, again back in the early 90s but nowdays as i tend to have 3 or 4 motors on the go the millage gets spread about ( i ave about 300 miles a week at the mo. TBH i tend to buy old sheds and run them into the ground, i rarely sell a car, i like to ge me moneys worth

Bought with 198,000 on the clock sold at 216,000. It was a brilliant car, loved it. I had to sell because the kids kept growing!

I bought a 1.4 TDCI Ghia Fiesta in 2003, it's currently on 324k. Apart from brakes and tyres, a few shocks and 2 springs, clutch was changed at 280k and I've just put a few new fuel hoses on her she's been reliable.

While I was living in rural Queensland - I chose the obvious choice for travelling about 800klms (500 miles) each week to work & back- the trusty Daewoo Matiz !! The 3 cylinder buzz-box used to sing along tirelessly- with very few issues. I got it upto about 270,000 KLM's before it started to give me the first signs of impending head gasket woes. In keeping with the weirdness of my life - the Daewoo was bought to replace a V8 Holden Kingswood wagon - that I just couldn't keep up with the fuel bills on !!! Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum ?

269,910 - hope to remember to take a pic at 270,000.
Probably the wrong time to add a manual boost controller, but did anyway. First attempt ended up with me getting the wrong type - Blew the aluminium top hose off so hard it caused a dent on the bonnet from the inside - oops. Once in and adjusted down from 12 psi to 8 - It's now far too quick.... Thankfully the installation of a knock LED stops anything daft.

We got to 200,000 out of our Honda CRV before it failed the MOT badly. Sadly scrapped it.

Nearly bought a 1970s Volvo with 800,000 on the clock. It had been in the same family from new, and just before I bought it, the son decided he wanted it.

This has to be right up there with the most irresponsible photos ;-) 300,000 miles !! Vauxhall Carlton 2.5TDI Elite Had a dodgy sensor I couldn't suss, so it stalled when hot, and wouldn't restart until cool - Westminster Bridge I remember you well. Geezer I sold it to bought his own illegitimate fuel in Jerry cans for the trip home, the engine didn't like the non-diesel he put in, and it packed up.

Not as much as some of the cars in the thread, but my mk2 golf GTi is on 197k now, and the vr6 fitted is on around 180k, which has now done around 12k boosted on standard compression with no decomp plate... Still going despite the abuse it gets. Not sure for how much longer right enough lol

I once drove a 52 plate Wrectra DTi that had 426k on the clock. To be honest the car wasn't that bad ; a B6 Passat I once bought was horrendous in comparison with way less mileage on it.

I used to regularly borrow a Passat 1.8 petrol with 420k km on the clock and drive up into remote mountains in Norway with my young kids in the back, minus 20, snow tyres, bodywork rotting off but the mechanicals all good.

My current ford ranger is just under 10 years old and is knocking on 320k.
Ex motorway maintainance (a sign company) and always fleet maintained, it's had everything replaced, a lot of items 2 or 3 times, so it drives better than ones I've had that were under 100k.
The idea of low milage cars being better condition is an utter crock, I'd argue the exact opposite. High milage and always well maintained as it needs to be reliable is always preferable to occasionally used and never anything done to it.

That's what my T4 camper is on at the mo, I'd agree with higher miles and well maintained, it has a monstrous box of full dealer history... it was a coach company support bus before I bought it. Drives like an absolute beauty

Audi A6 C4 2.5 TDI (straight 5, 140bhp) now on 303k miles (roughly 490k kms). I've had it since 110k.
It's been remarkably reliable. Original exhaust, turbo, clutch, starter, alternator. It's had various wheel bearings (I think one rear one is still original), radiator, fair number of suspension bits (I blame the 12 Car rallies in Dorset lanes!) and injector nozzles. Recently had to replace the auxiliary belt tensioner damper which was in the final stages of disintegration - bit disappointing really, you'd think it would last longer.........
It's had the cambelt service (incl water pump etc) at the recommended intervals and oil/filter changes more frequently than the recommended intervals.
Most of the paint is original too though it does have a few stone chips about the nose and could do with a good polish. It would easily pass for a car with half the miles.
Will be very hard to replace when it finally dies as it has raised my expectations to unreasonable levels!
Nick
PS. Highest miles in shortest time:
Just done the Club Triumph 10 Countries. 2,386 miles between Tuesday morning and the following Sunday evening. In a '67 Triumph Vitesse convertible. In 2009 we did about 3,200 miles in the same timescale in the same car. Another CT event in a 2.5 PI saw 1,127 miles in 30 hours. Car was fine - crew shattered.
