The French won't give a damn, they'll keep driving whatever. They're French. Saw a tasty 504 Coupe driving down 10th last time I was there.

I live near the Brecon Beacons & remember last Summer seeing the hills enveloped in an ugly brown smog, the weather forecasts said it had drifted over from Paris. I suppose I sort of agree with this but the most polluting cars are usually but not necessarily going to be the oldest, I think that if you can prove your emissions are within acceptable limits you should be able to get a sticker which permits access. Diesels are generally agreed to be disproportionately more polluting than petrol engines, are they going to pull all the taxis & buses off Paris streets?
A slippery slope perhaps, 20 years down the line are you only going to be able to enter Paris in an electric car?
I think tsoob is right, knowing the militant French mindset, they'll have riots when they start trying to enforce it!

Dismal state of affairs, and misguided too. Pre 97 cars are a tiny minority in most large cities, and banning them only highly penalises people who choose an older car. Removing a small number of cars which pollute a fraction more will have a negligible effect.
And I think it's irrelevant if in or out of Europe, there will always be misguided people in power looking for an easy headline grabbing fix.

If the Seine keeps rising as it has this last week, this could be one of the only cars you'll be able to drive through Paris...

All the smoke is from things being burned on picket lines! Things being burned on picket lines : Usually the trucks of hapless British truck-drivers, (whilst the Gendarmerie Tut-Tut & suggest that they should not).

It's a ridiculous idea seeing as modern (under 20 yrs old) diesels are the worst particulates polluters and make up a larger percentage of the vehicles than pre 97. I'd still try to drive my Ax through, plead ignorance to the submachine gun toting gendarme

London is apparently planning to ban all diesel cars from its street, as well as having consulted on banning on age related criteria.
Is that a reason to vote in? As Paris wont be as bad? ... Or is it totally unrelated?

you're just talking nonsense. What would you do if you had no real arguments for wanting to leave the EU?

I was just about to say the same thing This is a Paris thing, not an EU thing, you're just talking nonsense. It starts somewhere, then when people are seen to roll over and take it, other places will then think it's a great idea and put it into action, then before you know it your retro less and sad with an Arnold Clark special edition corsa on your driveway That's my thoughts anyway

London is apparently planning to ban all diesel cars from its street, as well as having consulted on banning on age related criteria. Is that a reason to vote in? As Paris wont be as bad? ... Or is it totally unrelated? I don't know about the rest of the UK but where I live the Council has put up emission monitors all around the town. Its not rocket science really, they will eventually look to restrict and/or charge for vehicles entering the most 'at risk' areas of the town. The notion that the French will carry out their ban and be completely under the radar of the EU machine is bull. Most of the initiatives for clean air zones around Europe emanate from the EU. If the French manage to reduce harmful emissions by 0.001% around Paris, it will be the blue print to roll out similar edicts across the continent, its how the EU works, you either seek to block it (as unworkable/not applicable to your own country) or you comply. On the basis that there are Politicians and environmentalists running around with their serious and concerned expressions on, its going to be difficult for any country to argue against such a scheme if there is any chance that such schemes would prevent City dwellers getting brain damaged and whales from becoming infertile. Common sense and facts have never been an EU strong point
