This looks so good on the wide rims! To add to the excellent anti-stud snapping advice, I'd be tempted to shock the stud area with a mallet after the soaking and heating, just before attempting to crack the nuts.
If mine sells this week, this thread is guaranteed to make me feel jealous!

Daveyboy20 - Thanks mate, you sold your Cav yet? Ok, ok so it's time for an update. But this one is probably going to split the thread. It's totally split me and I'm in real need of your opinions, so don't keep them to yourselves guys. So I was minding my own business when I get a direct message on here from member 'Capriturbo', he did a great bit of market research and offers me a front spoiler for the Cavalier. Details were exchanged and also money. Let me just take this opportunity to say that this member is absolutely spot on and trust him implicitly. He described perfectly, kept me updated and also packaged the spoiler with real respect and care. So it arrived and this is what it is, it's a KAMEI style front spoiler for the Cavalier/Manta. Anyway I've test fitted it on the car and I'll let these pictures do the talking. So I'm not 100% sure whether it suits the car. I really like it a lot but I can't help but feel it looks out of period and a bit too 1980s. With the front number plate on the car. I think it may look better in Jamaica Yellow though as that's a bit more late 1970s and more period. So is anyone skilled enough to Photoshop the spoiler the same colour as the rest of the car? So there it is guys, I need your opinions. What do you all think? Too 80s? Looks great? Jamaica Yellow? Or better off without? Look forward to hearing your opinions and comments.

Westbay - Thanks mate.
Envoycdx - Cheers, yes it does break up the yellow. I still would like to see it in colour just to compare though really.
Daveyboy20 - No side pics yet but I'll get some today as it would be better to show the whole car. I am sorry to hear about you getting messed around fella but that is eBay selling all over. I steer well clear.
Capriturbo - Thank you! Like I said, top guy and one to be trusted.

Stop this silliness right now!!! The levels of perfection this motor is achieving is stupendous...
I think that the spoiler looks pretty darn good...
I can see why you're torn as it's quite a face-changer when fitted (in a good way of course)!
If it were my car I'd leave it without the spoiler but that's a bit hypocritical of me when I fitted a Dolomite Sprint spoiler to the front of my Toledo...!!!
It'd be good to see how this looks in Jamaica Yellow so as to have something else to compare it with...
It's a tough one I grant you but it'll look good either way...

Grifterkid - Cheers mate, it has torn me. I would like to see it in Yellow to really make up my mind. I'm not sure whether it suits it or not. I've taken some more pictures of it out in the open now and so it gives you a better perspective. As usual keep the opinions coming please.

I think it'd look great colour-coded, like the ones people put on Escorts. It looks good as is though, and without it so it's win-win really

The only thing I'm thinking with regards to colour coding this spoiler is that it wouldn't really be that different from just sourcing a spoiler as fitted to the Cavalier Coupe/Hatch...
Keeping this spoiler 'in the raw' might make it look a little more unique even though the shape is quite obviously very different from the Vauxhall/Opel item...

Lovely car this. Without spoiler for me. However, IMO it's better in black than I can imagine it body colour, don't think that'd look right at all.

Jxke - Thanks buddy, I think I do really need to see it colour coded to make my mind up. I won't de altering the car to make it fit so there'll be no permanent fit in case I want to remove it. Logicaluk - You will probably find another model spoiler will fit your Acclaim with some modifying. Grifterkid - I cannot find a Sporthatch spoiler anywhere, and believe me I've looked. I know what you're saying about colour coding it, it'll lose its identity as a different spoiler. My spoiler is much deeper, much more V'd and is shaped a lot more like a plow. It's like a standard one on steroids. I just wonder if it's coloured it might still keep the look of the original Vauxhall item. Mk2polobloke - I totally thought the same when I fitted it originally. That the car looks better without it. It's not sporty enough to back up that spoiler. But I'm still undecided! Here are a couple of pictures I've found on the Internet of standard Vauxhall items that are colour coded.

trigger - Thabks mate, appreciated. Update time for this. Basically you may remember that I managed to find my bargain stainless steel exhaust. However I've not got round to fitting it. So it was time to put the Cavalier up on the ramps and get underneath. Ran the engine to get the exhaust nice and hot to remove the exhaust bolts easier. Which worked for 60% of the bolts. But unfortunately as you can see we had two casualties. However, I did manage to get the system off the car. I unfortunately will now have to remove the exhaust manifold as well. The two front pipes side by side. Unfortunately I still can't find a manifold to down pipe gasket anywhere. The search continues. Here you can see the old one has a recess in the rear pipe which on looking at the car is to clear the steering linkage. The new one doesn't have the recess. However on looking at the two down pipes from different angles. The stainless one is shaped differently and the pipe work comes out at a different angle, so I'm hoping it clears the steering linkage. Alternatively, it could have been built for a LHD Opel maybe? I guess we will see. The rear exhaust box was almost new and was the best part of the old system. If any of my fellow MK1 Cavalier owners need it then you're welcome to have it. Next updates on this should be me stripping down the exhaust manifold and the carbeurettor which keeps getting stuck. So I may as well do the whole lot. All comments welcome and thanks for looking.
