Cavboy - Sorry mate, I didn't see your reply. Yes the front plate hasn't gone back on yet because one of the old screws is so rotted in I haven't managed to get it out yet. I do quite like it without the front plate but it'll definitely go back on. Ok so another little quick update, Firstly, I removed the plastic interior door handle trims. They are looking a little shabby. They used to be coated in some form of plastic chrome. It's all rubbed off now and is in need of a refurbishment as you can see. Fully removed from the car and almost ready for refurbishment. I removed the black inserts and now the re-fake-chroming can commence. Then it was out with my RUPES machine polisher as I mentioned in my previous post I wanted to deep polish it. So I decided to do the bootlid, firstly cleaned it with a claybar, then went through the four stages of the RUPES method and finally set it with some DoDo wax. Here is the fruits of my labour. I'm quite pleased with the outcome. Then it was on to a silly little thing that I'd bought for the Cavalier since I have no idea where the car was originally bought and it had no dealer stickers. I bought these, I think they're quite appropriate although I'm not sure my younger readers will get them. What do you think? As usual, thank you all for looking and all comments appreciated.

Ok so today was MOT day for the Cavalier. I'm delighted to say that it passed so I I can now use her on the road again. I've only done 500miles since the last one. Here are some pics that I took whilst she was there. I'm really tempted by a nice stainless exhaust system but I don't want it to be loud. I'm thinking Manta system? I've also painted the door handles with what was allegedly chrome paint but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be. I may well go back to the drawing board on these. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome.

Those surrounds in chrome paint will never work. Take them off and send them to me. I work at a platers and reckon I could get them rechromed for about 15 quid (if they are metal??)

i found it to be not shiney, and also rubbed off with finger pressure even when dried for weeks

Cavboy80 - It's a fantastic feeling having it on the road for another 12 months yes. I'm really pleased. If you could find me out about that powder I'd be interested. I really don't like them in the current format. Then don't match the interior at all. Slacker - They're not metal mate. They're plastic, they're just flimsy plastic surrounds. I'm in 2 minds whether to go black or try and get them plated. Darrenh - I'll have a look at the label but to be fair it's pretty rubbish as a chrome. Not a bad silver! I laquered them so that they wouldn't hopefully rub off. Grifterkid - Cheers mate! Ok, so major update time too! Got sent a message today on WhatsApp. Here's the message I got sent. They have been fully welded and fresh back from the powder fosters! So I went to collect them. I'm so pleased with how they look and the finished quality is fantastic, the welds are top notch. I didn't have them for more than 20mins until I dropped them off with my friend to take to his bodyshop for the finishing touches which I'll keep under my hat for now. But for now I'll show you all a little taster. I hope you like them as much as I do! I'm looking forward to showing you all the next update.

Slacker - Thanks pal, glad you like them! I've not thought about wrapping them but that's also a great shout.
Grifterkid - I thought you might like them. They've been a long time coming but I'm happy with the finished article.

Good call on the wheels - will look even better with rubber round them!

Boltonlad - Thanks mate, the rubber is now wrapped around them and I'm pleased with how they look. Darrenh - Cheers mate. Much appreciated. So the wheels were wrapped in rubber today. I went with the original tyres from the car as they are brand new. I then put them on. Here is the result. I'm pleased with the results. I think they look very OEM and probably how they should have been from new. Here's a pic of the difference. Let me know what your opinions are, all comments welcome and appreciated.

Oh my gosh, love em! They remind me of the Ford wide Rostyles, which I'm a big fan of. If (when) I get another Mk1, this will almost certainly happen
