This hasn't been the greatest of weekends.....I came home from Wheels Day on Good Friday to find out that SWMBO has been made redundant. Not only that, but I work at weekends from home for the same firm and my rota's been halved, leaving me about £170 a month down as well!! With her being the main breadwinner in the house I'm guessing things are gonna be a bit tight for a while. Knowing her as I do, she won't be out of work for long, but probably not on the same money Luckily I have the 'runs on fresh air' Scrote as daily transport and it's still running as brilliantly as ever, but the Range Rover's gonna have to go. I've got a mate who's interested, if his interest comes to nothing then watch the For Sales. ;D So instead of the A60's I've been falling in love with over the last few months, I'm thinking smaller. More economical. But still with that styling. And I reckon I've found a winner! Underrated, cheap to run, simple to maintain. I know where there's a decent 1293 Spridget engine/box too. Plus I'm seeing one slammed in the front in satin black with a silver roof and orange metalflake steelies, and it's giving me wood ;D Anyone got any inspiration/pics?? Ta muchly!

Here it is under construction !................ I know these cars backwards ! Have chopped 3 of 'em over the years . I cant remember which is which ,but I think it was the one before the pink one I panelled the sides into a van style ,added towbar ,pulled another back halfed one as the trailer ! Still got engines /boxes around here.! All were heavily slammed on the deck .One had mini r&p steering . That pink one has got a lot of funny stories concerning it !

Obviously not an A40 ..its an A35 ...but this was the engine I did on my one owner a35 (was me dads from new) Stage 2 ,all the period bits ..cost an arm and a leg to do ...was good for 110mph (private test track ) Suspension is same as A40 ..I had telescopics on front and rear ,Larger brakes ,Midget axle etc etc,.Was all done '60's circuit racer style ,with cage etc

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm sure things will get better soon. Good on ya for not getting total cold feet on the retro car ownership. There isn't enough modded Brit tin on here I reckon. Get it done!

This is completely off-topic, but I'm so happy I just wanted to share it. Have spent most of the afternoon fielding calls from SWMBO's old employers (whom she left to go and work where she has been thi last six months).....upshot of it all is she's been offered her old job back, at no loss of £££....... I'm so happy I could just sh1t. Still looking longingly at A40's though!!!!

Hardluck fella. Been there recently. It will come back together, and if she is lucky, she will sort out something on the same or better money, and closer to home. Mine did.

So whats the A40 plan then? Entirely dependent on finances right now, will go looking as soon as the Rangey's done/sold, but am thinking 'patina with warm 1275' (I know where there's a Spridget engine/box doing nothing....) and stripping anything out that it doesn't need. Think I'll cross that one when the money's burning a hole in my ar5e-pocket! ;D
