Just thought some of you might like this twist on an old nursery song.
Daughter loves it.
Twinkle twinkle chocolate bar, My (mom) dad drives a rusty car, Pull the lever, push the choke, Of they go in a cloud of smoke, Twinkle twinkle chocolate bar, My mom drives a rusty car.
Hope you enjoy.
That is all.

Twinkle twinkle chrome on car My (mom) dad drives an ancient car Pull the lever, push the choke, Of they go in a cloud of smoke, Twinkle twinkle chrome chrome on car My mom drives a rusty car.

My two have both liked that. The boy is also keen on an old (it was second hand when bought to read to me in the 70's) edition of a Ladybird Book "Tootles the Taxi". It's got trolley busses, railway drays and water dowsers, as well as, Ike the Ice cream van, looking so gay, a character sadly missing from the 80's re-print.

Those with kids might also know the Biff, Kipper and Chip stories, there's some good retro spotting in there. I'm pretty sure that Bizzle did a blog post on those a while back.
There's also a very famous blue Austin Heavy 12-4. I'll have to see If I can find some Gumdrop stories to read with George.

Mark, quite a few of the Gumdrop stories are set locally to you. One involves a visit to Bosham, and yes, a car does end up being caught by the tide.... Oh, and Tootles the Taxi brings back a few memories! Some good ideas here for stories etc for the twins when they are older

My little lad knows that nursery rhyme. I'm sure the nursery taught it the kids because I'd usually turn up in something old and rusty to collect him. The boy is also keen on an old (it was second hand when bought to read to me in the 70's) edition of a Ladybird Book "Tootles the Taxi" Are they all from the same book? I'd love to find it/them for my lad. Remember reading them myself.

Oh, and Tootles the Taxi brings back a few memories! Some good ideas here for stories etc for the twins when they are older I think Val Biro used to live down this way. I'm sure that I saw the actual car at the West End Car show in Bognor when I was very small. (unless my dad was just telling me it was like Gumdrop). Dan, they are all from the same book - I'll stick a few more pages up this evening. I've been meaning to do a thread on them for ages. I might even fire up the scanner and do it properly. There's quite a few copies on e-bay.

Just found this website on him which may be of interest. Oh, and I also remember seeing him & Gumdrop when I was a child, this time at the village fete in Westbourne
