I'm thinking maybe if I put a thread up for this it'll give me a kick up the to get it finished. After I put a deposit on a Evo 1 (that was thankfully returned when it self destructed whilst still in p/o's hands) I remembered that I once drove a Satria and it was good fun. After a couple of weeks of scouring ebay and going to look at a couple of standard cars I spotted this one. It was a bit rough around the edges but had a lot of money spent on it on tuning bits. It had already ended without bids once, and on the 2nd auction I got it for a steal. The spec listed in the ad was: Engine - Lightened & Balanced bottom end Mildly ported head Cat Cams 281/276 degree rally cams with new followers/springs Vernier Pulleys Evo inlet manifold and throttle body HKS induction kit Also had- Stainless exhaust AR Racing Coilovers BK 299's Loads of really curse word stickers First job was to whip all the stickers off. I then dropped the front bumper off, took the fogs/mesh out and painted the metalwork behind black. Also fitted a couple of tyres on the back as they were dead. Also started stripping it out The main progress then happened, as a chance ebay search showed up some Compomotive MO's. They weren't a particularly bad listing, but I got in touch with the seller and went to look at them. Turns out they were 17x8 et35 MO6's, with 5 brand new Yoko Parada Spec 2's on. The lad had them on his Pulsar but they scrubbed, and the price was right so I bought them. They're a tight fit lol So anyway, out with the angle grinder and off with the arches. Not got any pics of the fronts (imagine that behind the plastic arch there is now no metal left and you'll get the idea). Rear was a bit more involved. I chopped the outer arch out, then slitted the inner, bent it up and welded it. Also had to sand the lip off the plastic arches, and a bit of the bumper too, but eventually they were on. Gloss white is the eventual colour its going, nothing flash just a rattle can job. It's currently half way through being prepped to go road rallying hence why I need a kick up the to get it done. It's pretty quick, suspension needs a bit of tweaking though its far too stiff at the minute. Should be cool once sorted though.

Nice car i really like these and the 2-dr coupe version. Really under-rated cars, handling is exceptional

It's one of those cars where lots of people try to race me from traffic lights but only because they think they'll win. It'll smoke a boxster s from a standing start up to silly speeds.

i love satrias soooo much, theres a couple on the island that seem to be driven by unsuspecting old biffers, not knowing the potential lurking in their engine bay! theres a nice (1.3 i think) base spec proton with the arches riveted on too! on my want list, will be watching this one!

Shame we don't have these cars over here, is it the same as the mitsubishi colt we have over here (only with less exiting engines...)

Yeah its basically a CA Colt with a bodykit and better suspension.
The base spec Satrias are the ones to use for rallying really as they're a lot lighter. The satria sport looks the same but has the 1.5 engine.

Always loved these I remember my brother was going to buy one new to replace his Saxo VTR back in 2000. He didn't as he bought a diesel AX and went to uni instead. Silly boy.

Lotus spent 15 months developing these, although the engine/gearbox remained stock.
Still popular in Malaysia/Australia but Proton never produced a follow up (wasted their money on a bunch of terrible self-developed cars).
Unfortunately in the UK they only attract the Lexus-light and Lambo-door brigade.

Lovely things. There's one 'round these parts with four spots on the front; looks naughty.

Slow going on this due to working all the bloomin time. The drivers side of the car is now in paint. Whilst I was at it I cleaned and re-stonechipped all the inner arches and floor, aswell as the the bottom 8" of the car up to the 1st swage line. Hopefully combined with some decent mudflaps that should stop the paint getting knocked off the sills. Maisie helped with bump strip sticky pad removing. And then I gave it a quick scuff off, masked and blasted it with £1 a tin Simoniz Appliance Gloss White. After a couple of days to harden and a wet sand/polish it was looking like this horiffically over exposed shot SHIIIIIIIIIIIINE A mate asked if he could borrow my wheels to go on his B16 powered ZR rally car for a show. I chucked them back on the Proton first to see if I still liked it as I was having serious thoughts about selling them and buying something Japanese. Reminded me why I put the work in to fit them. And then swapped them for my possible track wheels. They're standard Proton 17x7 ET42, check out that tuck lol. That was the drivers side body pretty much done and dusted so I moved onto the passenger side. I was cleaning the rear inner arch up when the wire wheel slowed right down. Pulled it away and there was a big hole in the inner arch at the end of the sill. And lots of holes along the rear edge. I chopped the closing panel off, and could see that the last 8-10" of the inner sill was crusty behind the trailing arm mount. Repairing it from underneath would mean removing all the suspension on that side, removing the trailing arm mount then repairing and trying to put the mount back in the right place. I decided that would end with a world of snapped bolt paint that I cant be arsed with for now, so started repairing from the outside. Not my best welding but its solid and I'm blaming the wire being on its way out as it ran out on the last seam lol. Hopefully i'll get it finished off this evening then move onto the other holes.

Matt - I was watching this too..... GF clocked me though and put the kybosh on it (still looking ). I had a passenger blast in one a loooong time back and loved it - really want one as a track hack and basic lightweight weapon but fine for daily trundle to work. Will own one - one day. Excellent stuff and the wel worth the effort getting the wheels on, looks great. Will this make it to the gathering? John

Nah not gonna be at the gathering I'm getting a lift down with Dave I could have boshed it through an MOT but I'd have nver discovered this rot, and seen as its life will be spent thrashing, jumping and doing general hoonery I'm glad I did.
