I’ve left the time flexible as I think I’ll be demolishing a bathroom Mrs BC wants less car activity and more bathroom progress this weekend YES!!! Finally a chink in BC's armour, I now know how I can push to the front of the queue, my son is a qualified plumber and I have absolutely no issue whoring him out to secure this crazy, entertaining and downright decent mans ride! Let me know when he's needed to service Mrs BC's bathroom needs

For my car in particular my transport guy is coming through yet again. it does to me seem a tad backwards though that a guy with a low loader can go collect a car legally yet the buyer themselves can't. It does create a vicious circle too as i've seen many 'due to unforseen circumstances' sales and the very real future of people are getting skinter and skinter so need to sell a car to maybe pay rent/mortgage/bills/food yet it's so difficult to actually go buy a car so they're stuck in catch22 of needing a sale for survival but no one can actually go buy it. Hope we get back to some normal soon Stay safe everyone

Only car I've bought blind was my VX220, but it was brand new. I didn't even get to test drive one as they'd sold the demo. That worked out OK! Good luck whatever way you go... they've shot up in value them, nice little motors!

For me, the concern is not seeing it first... No idea why I have this concern! I have a history of mostly buying pups when I do see them! Are AA/RAC still doing inspections? i enjoy buying blind at times, bit of a gamble haha, I've seen a load of piccies tbf so not mega worried and the car is cheap cheap to warrant a few spends if things aren't quite right. it was just to see if there were other collection options in these difficult car buying times

Sure we've all come to the dilemma recently of seeing a car, its miles away and we're in lockdown (me at present haha)
So is Shiply the only option, aside from breaking rules, jumping on a train and collecting yourself are there any other options i've missed
Car is miles away and I'm not comfortable with a long train journey then a long drive back (this isn't about a covid debate btw)
What other 'collection' options are out there chaps?

Ok this might be a really stupid question!
I'm a big fan of the Jdm's like Impreza/Evo/Skyline and noticed many many of them are super low mileage appearing in almost mint condition
Are these cars over there just not used, is there a reason for this?
Just intrigued that's all
Thanks

Bit of a photo dump to show where it is now. Annoyingly the carb is giving me untold trouble, got another genuine one and that showed the same symptoms. swapped a mates carb onto the engine from his beetle and it ran lovely, so a full carb rebuild needed as it had a rebuild kit on it first. The wing mirror brackets were pricey as hell but worth it imo lots of new or powder coated goodies gone onto this, looks really good now And yes that was screen no2 eeeek Shouldn't be too much longer now til I can drive it, just in time for winter!!!

The car was so low when it got delivered it had to be (dare I admit this) raised !!! but only a little, it still feels like a gokart. The bonnet pins were already there and not to my liking really but for now they can stay, engine being in the back it's no biggie. There's more to blast and coat like the door handles but for now I just wanna get to driveable and enjoy for a few weeks then strip the bits and finish it for good

Third time lucky on this one, I've dipped my toe in the ownership of Trekkers twice before but never got to the end of what I wanted to do with either of them. I saw this whilst, like many no doubt, cruising the FB forums on various cars, a flippant comment on a reply to a different thread showed me a photo that price dependant I knew I was buying the Trekker! A few pm's back n forth saw me organising a flight to Newquay to look at the car. I knew soon as I saw it I was having it, but it was an unpainted shell with what I was told was all the parts to rebuild, in other words a big project, oh and it was 350 miles from home, naturally I left a deposit that day. Back home it went to the paint shop for the hardest decision in car life, what colour? I settled on an old school VW colour called Guineablau, I hit the net to see any cars in that colour and couldn't find any? maybe i'm curse word at searching or it was a rarely used colour, I chose to believe the latter. I got one door painted as a test to see if I was happy then the virus hit (that sounds like a zombie film line) and progress stopped completely. Once lockdown eased the car got painted and back to my mates to thrash on it. What a learning curve as despite being a simple vehicle the 'all the parts to put back together' didn't help as some were missing or most were that ratty and worn they just didn't belong a freshly painted Trekker, and being Trekker the parts have an extra VW scene tax to them or are harder to find than just generic bits. This has resulted in many of the parts being sourced new with a good few big items like Roof and side curtains still to purchase when funds allow. This is how it sits for now, the before pics are in here for easy reference but credit to the PO for all the hard work and dedication to get it to ready for paint stage. Pretty much every part is now new, the new loom was a biggie but sooooo worth it. Long term is change the interior as it came with some fibreglass bucket seats, not sure if they are my thing or not as yet. suspension is fully adjustable but may go on air? Other than that i can't wait to finish it and drive it now. edit, some of my piccies haven't loaded ? bear with me

great to see them working. Most vacuum operated lights seem to open one before the other, if you want them to always operate together either link them with a shaft or use electric motors out of something like an MX5 which are pretty fast. I'm cool with the little nuances of old stuff, they'll not be going electric unless I have untold issues with them

Well what a surprise today was, these haven't seen daylight or even worked for decades, confirmed by the re routing of vac pipes etc to make them work, yes one has a sticky eye but it'll loosen up with a bit of time and lube.

Called down to drop the boot lock, door lock and top hose off and this was happening!! We now have an opening and closing boot and nearly a full brake system, but as with everything on this build, stopped in our tracks for the brake unions, not supplied with the kit and being Yank they're not just off the shelf from our Parts supplier next door. Brakes are nice and meaty so should do the job.
