You need to look for a retro not a modern. 81 and older are exempt and its only gettin better.. You think on a retro car forum people would have realised this by now 🙄 The nice/annoying thing with this is, engine conversions arent taken into consideration. So you can have a pre 81 car with a later non ulez engine and it doesnt matter lol.

I might fit some unrated shocks and a bigger rear arb but don't want to go too mad and ruin the ride. I need to sort some of the previous body damage out and try to stop it going rusty. I had the front end apart on Sunday to straighten the front panel as the lights didn't fit very well. Might try to get a straight one and paint it to match the car. The rear end is a bit untidy and I need to paint the rear edge of the boot floor and the inside of the boot. It's had a new rear panel fitted and it's just not painted well enough. The brakes aren't great so I might investigate fitting some bigger diameter vented discs from a larger engine model. don't know if the 106's are the same, but I fitted 306 TD calipers & disks to my UK 205 Rallye and the brakes were great. The calipers and disk are larger, with the bonus of vented disks. Really handy guide here! www.tapatalk.com/groups/forcedinduction/106-brake-upgrade-t210.html

Z4? Seem to be still in the cheap era. Most other things like that have shot up. Have seen a couple of R129 SL's in your budget but no idea if they are ulez. I've had an R129 500SL. Never again. Z4s are a very good idea, although the front end styling is a bit dubious and they look awful on the wrong wheels. If we are talking BMW then I quite fancy a 3 series cabrio in E90 flavour. There is a 335i on Auto Trader for £4k but it has 200k miles and a pimp red leather interior. Urgh. From what I've seen, avoid the n54 engine like the plague.

I'm no expert but I feel like that "cage" could do with some rear triangulation... I wouldnt worry, it's got no seat belts/harnesses so you will be well clear lol

Taxed & Tested, last v5 issued August 2016! It's probably worth asking on VZI if it's still going & you can tolerate it lol.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but most of those cars are 20-30 years old now so firmly into retro territory! (Yes I feel extra old also lol)

I'd love to see one given the btcc look, they've got a great shape and don't need much to look really smart. I've driven afew and they're ok, but I remember one being a really nice car, like it was just put together better. Some came with recaros, probably just the turbos.Lots of potential.

I don't know much about them, always liked them. Seems to basically be a Honda Accord 90-93 model underneath More in common with the 93 - 98 Accord It's a weird rabbit hole loop on wikipedia! Seems to be based on a Honda CB platform which is the older accord / but the Ascot Innova (CB3/4) (Euro accord 93-98 shape we know) is also based on the CB not the CD platform (which looked similar!). Never heard of the Ascot & didnt know Eurpoe had a different version of the Accord either lol. So that a new useless bit of information that is stuck in my head & I will continue to not know what day it is

I was one of those 'awful' people who 'ruined' a car and had it featured in Max Power Good times To be fair, it was ruined, top speed dropped by 20ish mph iirc I remember that one! I'm also one of those awful people, mine was in Redline though. Pic taken on the shoot, model covering up with a coat between pictures lol

Porsche 932 Prototype 1989 Looks like a mk2 Laguna, Matiz & Seat Torledo were at a swingers party and this is the result.

This was a new one on me recently, a Ferves Ranger, built from Fiat 500 and 600 running gear with 2 or 4 wheel drive. Apparently 600 were made between 1965 and 1970 Thats going to be one of those car's that looks big, until you see it with something next to it. *edit Yes, yes it is lol

My main restriction on this list is lack of space & the Mazda's are a nightmare to find! Mazda 626 saloon 1978 (CB pre facelift, only place I can find them for sale is Oz) Honda City Turbo 2 MK1 Hilux minitruck (my prety much ideal one is currently on a boat on it's way to the UK atm - but it's not mine ) MK3 Golf base spec in full 90's euro spec (Pastel salmon paint, tweed inteior, vento front, open air roof, VR5 swap, etc) 205 GTi Mi16 My current MK2 Golf, but with a VR5 swap & different colour E39 528i Saloon E46 328i Saloon/330i Saloon Honda Rukus/Zoomer, I'm not a biker or that fussed but I really want one. Those are my realisitc/sensible ones that spring to mind, tbf there arent many truely expensive car's I'd like to own. Much rather have a hanger full of weird & wonderful JDM stuff lol

Really glad to see your home ownership is progressing. Congratulations. Thanks mate, it's not the one we were buying as 6 months in & 3 missed completion dates we had no choice but to withdraw from the purchase. Good thing is, this one is already 5 bedrooms & already has a garage so much less work It will do for the next 10 years (for school catchment reasons) and then we can (maybe) look for our forever home (this will be our 3rd in 13 years lol)
