While out there with the cutting disc, I decided to cut the numbers out too from the carcass of the donor, they will be welded onto the chassis later, just for the record. Make sure it can't be easily found on an MOT otherwise that will cause issues. Good progress again at the moment!

We had a 52 plate Mk4 Golf that I added cruise control to by fitting the genuine indicator stalk and getting the ecu programmed to accept it. I would think that you could do the same with a Caddy. Worth looking into VAGCom if a VW group car is going to be in your fleet permanently. The caddy is probably too old to have it added in in terms of simple programming and fit. It’s older car architecture rather than newer on these. It’s a funny platform, not even being based an a Polo despite looking like one.

Was eagerly awaiting a ‘detaped’ set of pics. Did. Not. Disappoint. Excellent work so far. Enjoying the story!

Can’t help with the mystery panel but your switches look like aftermarket heated seat controls. Nice looking Benz, tidy!

There will be method in their madness don’t you worry. Oh by the way sir/madam did you realise your brakes are toast, oh your antifreeze is out of sorts etc etc No main dealer does anything for nothing in my experience more like would you like to spend forty grand on the new xyz sir! Paul Y, thanks for the offer, I’ve still got the unit out of one of my old v40’s in the garage but it’s of no use, it’s a V50 with the waterfall dash, stereo built in the multi changer is behind the dash and it’s not possible to retro fit anything else. It’s not even possible to fit a second hand unit of the same model as each unit is coded to each car, hence Volvo being able to grab you by the dangle berries and charge extortionate prices for something that is only faulty because of a small plastic cog that loads the discs. Shame really because for a stock system the sound quality is rather good. Most good auto electronics places now could either mend the deck or virginise a unit to code to your car. Slightly off topic but yea. Very possible.

Love this! I have a Scania R470 and the same trailer. Built it yeeeeeeaaaaaaars ago and its been sat on a wardrobe at my parents house for at least 7 of those years. Initially it went there when my wife and I moved to our second house and I wanted it out of the way for the move... Now on our third house and two kids later and after seeing this I am thinking perhaps I should bring it home! Please keep the updates coming You aught to get it back out. Upgrades are now cheap enough and plentiful, lots of local clubs offering circuit meets, and it definitely is quite enjoyable. I’ve do quite enjoy the euro tractors but I had to have a US unit, just so much more me.

New wheels came Thursday! Building them up.. Looks so good. A massive improvement over the stock wheels is the rear floating bearing hub, something Tamiya seemed to have decided wasn't a thing. After the circuit driving day I did I realised I needed to throw some simple upgrades at it. First was a new steering servo as the old one was wandery and had play in the shaft. Also, new motor. The Mabuchi 540 is IIRC 37T, swapped for a Carson Poison 80T for proper low speed control. The gearbox is lovely. But can you see an issue? Moulding flash left on the 2nd gear dog clutch stopping it engaging properly. Nice job. I've also de-staked the trailer to allow for some load change possibility. Need to dechrome some wheels for it now too.

Beautiful truck. I’ll have a rummage down the sofa but I don’t think I can scrape up the wedge for her sadly. GLWS, hope it finds a good home.

Digi dash was the first super awesome thing I spotted. Then I scrolled back up and saw the supercharger, brilliant stuff!

Seeing as the OP’s question has basically been answered and this thread is fast disintegrating into a flame war about how MOT stations are ran, time to latch the padlock.

Very nice, the later ones had wheel arch liners would it be worth getting a pair to give it some better protection? I’d have thought that would be more effort to keep from getting mucky. Liners just trap crud whereas you can just was a bare wheel arch out I suppose.

Anyone know what it might cost me to move my Capri & Escort from Ruislip (middlesex/west London) to Stoke-on-Trent or Manchester? I'm moving to Manchester in mid Feb and trying to decided how much I might be looking at vs trying to fix them up enough to drive (or at least one). My parents live in Stoke hence thinking about that as a possible drop. Shipley. Best way to get quotes from rated delivery drivers with no real obligation. I’ve used them a few times and had no issues. Just choose your driver carefully.

These lamps are 24V Can one simplistically convert a regular 12V system to deliver 24 volts to these headlights? Thanks for the input. 2 things: 1) have you tried them on 12v? 2) do they have a compliant beam pattern? some US stuff DOT approved lamps are MOT passable but worth checking this.

I’ve amended the title to keep you from the advert purgatory and also put a price that doesn’t look like Facebook Marketplace ‘offers plz’ as we don’t do ‘offers plz’, just prices. and honesty if you expect someone to have the £4 to pay for the car, then, that’s nitpicking. Cool thing though in Panama. GLWS!

If the one on the left is the future, lord help us all. It’s gonna be a boring future Of all the modern cars the Insight is actually quite interesting as an early electric hybrid coupe with fairly mad for its time teardrop coupe styling and rear arch spats and aero wheels to aid its drag coefficient. But hey. Modern cars right.

Is there a procedure for attaching a pdf., or .doc to a post? Such as a dimensioned drawing or a book/manual? You’d need to host it somewhere and link to the file.

New car collection preparation checklist: [] Money transferred, check. [] Insurance, sorted. Bit more expensive than the Merc, but I expected that. [] Address confirmed for collection. [] Collection vehicle fuelled up, check. ...Would have had the actual owner transfer done if it weren't for the amazing automated computer system the DVLA has which only keeps office hours, so that and the tax will have to be done in the morning. We aim to be on the road by 0900 tomorrow, about a 3.5 hour drive there...Wish me luck with the motorway traffic gods... The DVLA computer is actually Frank, who sits at the teletype machine from 9-5 with a break for tea and biscuits occasionally. Occasionally for older vehicles Frank has to send a fax to Norwich to have the archive pulled from microfiche and faxed back before he can type the return back to you. This is the price of modern technology. Phil Ah you joke but the online system only works between 7am-7pm so I think you may be right, just with the wrong times.
