About 5 years ago it was somewhere between Christmas and new year. I was fairly hammered on the beer and I suggested to my lass that I fancied getting another pickup truck, mainly for moving motorbikes around. I started looking and within an hour I'd found a ford ranger single cab with the long bed. It was up at over £1000 with a make an offer button. I thought I would go in at £700 expecting to get an auto email back saying no, and from there I could could talk to the seller and meet on a price. So I hit £700 and it came straight up saying congratulations the seller has accepted your offer.
After staring at the screen for 5 minutes. I called over to my lass and said "I think I'm going to need you to give me a lift to Manchester" she was puzzled and then I followed up with "I've bought a truck on eBay" so in the middle of the holiday I had to sort insurance and go get it.
Another one, not car related. Well over 10 years ago when people were just starting to go on the net and eBay was becoming big. I was again quite merry on the beer, looking on eBay. I left the pc alone for a few days and didn't go on it. The postman knocked on the door with a package for me. A bit confused I opened it up and there was a metal tin plate robot inside which I must have ordered in the early hours while popped up.

A Toyota Supra 3.0 turbo. Lad who owned it said it was well over 300 bhp and pushing close to 400. I've no idea how true that was but it was a missle. That car is what actually got me really interested in cars, as when I first passed my test, a car was just work transport to keep my bikes nice. It really changed my outlook on cars, and from that day, cars became and interest and a hobby.

A quiet weekend here. Took the Audi out last night and got a bit of food from Asda, today we had spin out in my lasses e36, other than that I'll stay at home. Most of the weekend is going to be spent drinking magners and looking around on the net for cars, trying to decide what to get for the gathering.
I've been on confused.com a lot running potential cars through to get an idea for insurance costs. Out of interest my avant tdi is £350 fully comp, whereas an Impreza turbo is £250.
I really like 3G preludes and one of those is only £150 to insure. Still looking pop up light Toyotas too, both the Celica and MR2 are around £200 to insure. I don't understand insurance at all, I can't figure out why a tdi avant is £100 more to insure than a turbo Subaru.
What I do need to do is get more stuff on eBay to raise funds to buy another car.

I haven't seen one of these on the road for a long time, there can't be many left. I learned to drive and passed my test in a diesel one.

I have quite a big collection of vinyl. I haven't played any of it for years. There's quite a few picture discs and numbered limited editions. I might have look and see if any of it is worth any money.

Great thread. Where do you find all these old cars?

Next to come down from the loft, hundreds of magazines. I started off with my classic and retro ford mags, and listed them on eBay, a year at a time, but they didn't sell. I tried listing them again in one lot, about 70 magazines, again no luck. In the end I put them on the oldskoolford website and got £20. I could have got more, some people sell them £5 an issue on eBay, but I just wanted them out of the way, I don't have time to sell them one by one. I still have a lot more car magazines and hundreds of motorcycle magazines to sort out. Total now £115

I went out to do some bottle recycling and had a look in couple of bargain shops and sainsburys, found no cars. I went to B&M for some special salt I like and had a look there, it's getting worse, they used to have loads of single cars and they only had 2 cars in total. I mentioned to my lass that someone on here had said tesco had a lot in so we ended up driving there. They had loads but most were the the same car 5 times. I found another poundland which had a lot in stock too but again, 5-10 of the same car. I read a few pages back that someone had found a mk1 escort in sainsburys whiterose, so we went there. Big mistake, took well over an hour to get parked, have a look and get back out. Anyway enough of the rambling, here's today's score.

I went back up into the loft and I have a couple of old motorbike helmets up there. I have a really cool Simpson bandit, same as The Stig wears on Top Gear, but I want to keep that as I had it airbrushed. I decided I would sell my old Valentino Rossi AGV helmet. It's replica of the one he wore at Imola, during the race he had his bike, leathers and helmet all done in the Italian flag colours. He even had his hair dyed 3 colours to match. I put this on eBay at £10 with no reserve. It was at least 15 years old and had many years of use when I bought it, so it had plenty chips and marks and all week it had no bids then eventually someone bid £10. I thought about stopping the auction but I decided to gamble it and let the auction run, in the end it sold for £45 so I was happy with that. Fund total £95

Free bump, I honestly think this is the coolest car to come up for sale on here in a long time. I'm genuinely amazed it hasn't been snapped up.

I tired this a couple of years ago. I bought a drum, it had been used to store black currant juice concentrate. I bought some 25x25mm bar and welded up a frame for it. I then cut it in half and welded some hinges on so it opened up like a pacman mouth. But as soon as I cut it open it became very weak and started flexing. It stood like that for a couple of years and I binned it and bought one. Good luck with yours, it looks good.

I wasn't sure where to put this, I'm modifying my life here......! At the moment, I'm driving a 1996 A4 avant. I want to come to the gathering 2016 and although I could probably sneak my car in as the club stand info requests predominantly pre 95, and it's only 1 year out, I think a stock avant isn't really what people would want to see at a retro car show. So I want to get another car that is pre 95 and come to the gathering. There's a snag. I have no spare money. Also I have just started an adult apprenticeship at 40 years old. Long term things are going great, in a years time I'll have a good job on decent money. But for now, on training wage, things are tight. So I thought I would see if I could sell all the stuff lying round my house that I don't need and don't use and see if it will add up to enough to get me a car for the gathering. I genuinely have no idea if anyone is interested in this, but here goes! First up, into the loft. I own a few guitars and have a couple of cases which I haven't used in over a decade. I looked around and prices vary like crazy, I thought roughly anything from £10 to £30 each. I put them on eBay and within no time a local guy offered me £50 for the pair. I said yes, and within a day he came and collected. Fund stands £50

I just went to B & M yesterday. They normally have a lot of single cars, yesterday they only had about 4. In their place were lots of the 5 packs and I never like the cars in those.

I went to halfords today to get a power bank for my phone. I had just paid for it and I was on my way out when my missus shouted me back. As we were going she had noticed a huge display full of Hotwheels. We spent about 15 minutes emptying the huge display onto the floor. There were a lot I hadn't seen before, but I picked my favourite 4 and my lass wanted the Mario one. I got a real shock at the till, just short of £10 for 5

I fancied another car real car alongside the Audi. But my bank balance said no. But if I added up what I've spend on hot wheels over the last month, it would pay the monthly insurance on another real car. I've got to start limiting myself to 1 or 2 hot wheels per week, instead of 10.

I don't get it. I own a lot of guitars and its the same story. The real worn out guitars from the 50s 60s 70s are awesome. But then you can buy a brand new road worn or relic stratocaster. Made in the fender factory to look like it'd been gigged and used for 30 years.

I'm a bit late to this thread, just had a quick look through, some awesome cars. I never realised people were so into estates/wagons. This is my current ride, a 1996 a4, picked it up for £600 just before xmas and its very tidy for its age. I only bought it as a short term run around and I've ended really liking it. This thread has got me thinking, what could I do to it? Maybe lower it a little and stick some cool wheels on it.
