heard it happening on other cars due to low oil
id imagine it will get back ok...if you can id try and change the oil or at least top it up , should be able to buy the tools to do it fairly cheaply

how long was it driven after hitting it ? might be worth dropping the con rod caps and looking at the bearings , or price them up they might not be too dear

i wouldnt cover it , wash and wax it as often as you can , open the windows /boot on a fine dry day to air the car
cars don't melt away when sat outside ...it'l be fine if you check over it once in a while

would be an idea to drop the sump and see whats going on, possibly drop a big end cap and look at the bearing condition

agree with hammerite and most off the shelf paints , what about white gloss for your house doors , goes yellow in 6 months becuase they took the good stuff out lol
also rubber doesnt seem like it used to be , ive had no end of ball joint covers , gaskets and hoses crack and perish before they ought to

See now there will be the usual discussion about premium brands etc. I'm with you on buying whatever meets the relevant specification especially as there are few (only four?) places that do the blending to produce the oil anyway. I'm one of those people who only use "branded" oil. But that's from using cheaper oils in cars with pressure gauges and seeing how quickly it degrades. I tried some of the Euro Car Parts stuff in the MX5 and little after a month it was dropping. Swapped over to Shell and it takes almost bang on one year to start to degrade, which is handy! The oil specifications don't involve having to stay at that spec. for any period of time. My experience is that some of the cheap ones break down far more quickly than the expensive ones. Well, except Castrol of course! tried some no name brands and the tappets don't sound happy at all...bung in some decent brand and silence , so they're not all the same

ive had one of those polos over 10 years ,they're not hard to bleed at all
my bet is the plastic impeler blades have come off....got a spare engine here and the water pump had near all its blades gone

i also don't like to trust cheapie sensors ...infact cheapie anything
water pump might be going ?
i always bleed mine like this....run it up with the cap off , top it up while its running and wait until the fan turns on , it may bubble but then settles , turn off and let it cool down and check the level then cap on and its fine

don't worry , panel wipe wont touch 99.9% of bumpers n stuff , it dries too quick - ive worked in bodyshops for years and never had a issue
i would make an effort to go the extra mile and clean it a few times , each new rags one wet and a dry one to instantly dry off the residue

normal panel wipe will work, use lots of clean cloths and wipe it dry rather than let it dry

raise one side at a time on some decent stands and wear old clothes and accpet you will get and messy , with the wheels off and laying on the ground you will get it clean ...look at getting a dirt blaster nozzle and a 90 deg one
