£25??? Is that a flat rate? To be honest delivery was the one thing that putting me off most. Ive heard some horror stories about cars that have been purchased in a real bad way, bodged to look good, then stuck back in the auction for a quick sale. As mentioned, they don't really declare mutch. Was looking at a Vw t5 transporter last night listed with bumps and scratches. The entire sill and long side panel is stoved on.... And thats just what you csn see on the poor quality pics. I'm guessing they're mostly used by folks who break cars rather than repair You need to be a certain distance from the yard, I was within there delivery area. So bargain. So generally I only look at my closest yard. As I bet soon gets expensive.

I bought one car from there.
It arrived with more damage than expected, they seem to take photos to mask the fact the seat airbags have gone off etc,
And the buying fees really made the car quite expensive, delivery was £25 which was cheap though.
|

I did wonder why someone who clearly worked at retroford who deal with classic fords and have all the parts he would need probably at cost price to build his own, why he would want mike to buy him a car.
He even had a st170 donor engine.
The escort he bought, for people who worry about log books is a 1.1GL and hasn’t had an MOT in over a year, and MOT advisory’s talk about rust, plus it had an oven door in the roof, the seats didn’t look good at all, I think the bloke would have been disappointed personally at what 14k had got him.
Although the car had clearly had some money spent on it
I like the show though.

Pickup up the canopy. Just needs a good jet wash, I need some threaded hook type fixing to hold it on. Might make some from some threaded rod. I’m moving to Ross on wye in two months, should fit in with the farmer locals now

Could be worse, could be a smokey old beavertail Transit taking it away! at least its not hanging off a hi-hab by chains though kicked in windows......!! The house just sold so they are clearing it. They dragged it away like that without a trailer, the Skid marks from the siezed brakes go off up the main road.

Bought a rear canopy on eBay earlier. Hopefully collect it over the weekend or one night next week. £160. Didn’t seem a bad price,

I’ve got a z4 with similar symptoms, same engine, I’ve read the codes and it’s saying air flow meter.
I also have milky residue in the oil cap, but the car hasn’t been used in 2 years.

My car is 1977. But I’ve not used it since it turned 40,
Do I have to apply for MOT exemption and free tax? Or just go to tax it as usual and it will be free?

Couple of new radiator hoses and the 1600 sport decal kit, actually looks a bit of a hassle to fit.

The shell is key, everything to rebuild it is generally simple to get hold of,
None sun roof is a plus point. But how bads the rust?
It’s probably valued at between £500-£1000
Closer to £500 unless it comes with engine box and suspension with axle

Found a company called Carbcare in litchfeild who will come out and rebuild it and set the timing etc, so Will get them out,
Found a lot of good reviews on a VW and mini forum about the company.

my Plans, with the current fleet Mazda B2500 daily driver, hopefully it won’t need anything this year and will continue to be reliable. M3, I only tax it for the summer, no plans for it, the bodywork needs attention but that won’t be until I have a garage for it. Z4, inherited this from my dad in 2016, one of the only things I have of his, it doesn’t run properly and it’s in the way but I don’t think I can sell it, that will continue to stay in the waiting room until I’m ready to do something with it. Ford Capri, it’s still getting restored, I’ve put some money aside to get this back in 2020 so that should be good. Ford escort, I plan to use it this year, so will get the engine set up properly and the carb tuned as it’s way off, plus add some gold 1600 sport stripes and maybe a radio, but ultimately I needs everything removed and replaced suspension and braking wise, I will look into a Zetec swap to make it more usable and a bit more fun. But that’s all years away With a house move this year, hopefully we will be buying a place with enough space to have a 5-6 car garage/shed so all the cars can be under cover and out the elements and I can work on them in the warm and dry. Really I just need to sell everything except the escort and the mazda as it’s so much easier with less stuff but you get attached to things so don’t think I can part with any, but then there loads of other cars I’d like to try. I really want to build a little mk2 escort out of one of the new body shells and have it as a daily driver
