I posted photos of it in this thread back in early 2015. It doesn't look much more rotten in the Google maps image. Actually, now that I've studied the Google maps image, I think it may be from the same year when I took my photo of it too, as the litter on the drive is in the same place. I went past it the other day, it doesn’t look too bad for the time it’s been sitting.

Move house in less than two weeks, so borrowed the father in laws stock trailer. Never towed before but not too bad. Filled it up today Lawn mowers, engine crane, wheels, spare lawn mower engines and axles. I can see why farmers wouldn’t get a 2WD truck. Lack of low range or 4x4 means I couldn’t get the trailer back on my drive, just spins the back tyres. Had to turn it around. And faced it up my roads that is a hill to use gravity to help. Badly underpowered really with just 75bhp not looking forward to driving it now. Got a 60 miles trip with a few small hills on the motorway which I will likely slow to to like 30mph. Truck still going strong, might look for a 4x4 one, or I wonder if you could swap the front axle and gearbox to convert it to 4x4?

It’s still standing. Added a couple of extra braces, it barely moves now in the wind, no leaks to report after another load of rain, although there is a river running through the garage at the moment, will get some slabs or something to make a temporary base for the car to park on.

Lets hope it doesn't blow away. Me and a mate built it today, in the storm. 5 hours in the rain, absolutely drenched, Will go back tomorrow to finish off a few bits, hopefully it will still be there.

Built the cars new home today, looks pretty bad, but should be watertight, hopefully it will be a very temporary thing, and we find a house to buy soon. Also The company who make the 1600 sport decals are going to fit them for me on the 6th of March. I don’t want to mess it up.

Put some tint on my spare spot lights. Just having a lot of trouble around the edges with it crinkling up, maybe need a bit more practice at it. Might have to put a few cuts,in the film to get it to sit flat

From what I’ve read on the new Chinese shells, there good enough for rallying but not great to build a road car from. Although I did see one road car built with one.
They will all be ringers though. Rotten two doors that have been dead for 30 years. Coming back on the road.

My work car is a corsa 1.3 diesel. Easy over 50mpg
Horrible cars though.

Love your Escort ! its a beauty . Did you just change the diff oil as routine service? i'm mustering up the courage and money to get my Capri Diff sorted. going to try half shaft bearings but i think its the diff rumbling from what I'm told. Does you Capri have a build thread too? Cheers. I did have a thread on my Capri on here. But not updated in a while. I jut did it because I saw it had a couple of drips coming from It, and I’ve never done it and I doubt it had ever been done, £10 for the pump and £8 for the oil. So was cheap enough job.

Order a new fuel filter. 65p with discount delivered, I doubt they can be make much of a profit on that. I need to find a replacement grommet for this, Also really fancy getting some yellow tinted spot lights, Found one on eBay but no others. I’ll order some yellow tint film and give it a go and see what it looks like, Need to peel off the gold stripes the cars got and fit the 1600sport decals, then it’s ready for the road.

If you're handy with wood or a welder, have a look on YouTube. Lots of good diy videos of how to make workbenches (lots of bad videos as well though lol) Thanks, I'm new to the idea of looking on youtube for such things. It makes sense in today's world though. I'm currently learning towards a wood build, but if work comes through with the metal bits that may change... Make one out of uni strut. All just bolts together. Can make it exactly how you like.

Bought one of these from screwfix to suck the old oil out the diff It’s was pretty black and there was 3/4 of a litre left, these diffs take a litre and a bit, I only had a one litre bottle so should be ok, better than before anyway. Gravity filled if for me though I bought this jack over two years ago and never used it, first time today, it’s so much easier with a big proper jack instead of the little orange ones you get in Halfords I stuck 4 litres of anti freeze in too, I also got the drivers door to shut better which had been annoying me for about 8 years.

Ah, I’m just getting ready to put my car on the road. It was 39 when last used so needed an MOT and tax, my MOT history has disappeared now too, but still asks for £88 quid tax because I haven’t applied for historic status. So going to apply now before I use it. Do it at the post office, in the changes section on the V5 change the tax class to Historic and they'll tax it there and then FOC, they keep the V5 and you'll get a replacement usually within 6 weeks Thanks. Will do it when my new insurance certificate comes through for this years. Downloaded the v112 form for mot exemption .

Next little job is to make the wheel caps look better, will go for the rs1800, rs2000 style with the RS logo. I think I’ll change the diff oil too, as I bet if there’s any left it’s the original.
