If you were having to slow the flow it's more likely you were getting cavitation somewhere or some other strange flow behaviour (or you were measuring block in temperature maybe?). High flow can only be better from a heat rejection point of view. A well performing system has a lower delta T across both the rad and engine than a poor performing system. The higher flow means that the energy is being transferred to more coolant so the temp increase is smaller.
It's easier to think about in a rad, but this applies to the block too, just in reverse. In the rad more flow means inlet and outlet temps are closer, this means the average radiator temp is higher. The amount of heat rejected by a rad is proportional to the delta between the coolant temp in the core and the air temp. Therefore the more of the radiator you can run close to the inlet temp the better as it gives you a bigger average delta.

You could start with 'Hutchinson stopchoc or 'knitted wire isolator' for your missing heatshield mount.

Whilst we are on the subject of gear changing, someone told me that my gear knob should light up but it doesn't. A quick look soon showed why. The strings had snapped off flush with the plug. What I wanted was some new pins for the plug then I could just crimp them on and re-pin the plug, easy peasy. The problem was, I couldn't find the part number for the pins. I ordered some off eBay which looked right but they didn't fit. In desperation, I asked on the above mentioned FB page if anyone knew the part number. The reply I got was, 'just cut off the plug, twist the wires together and tape them up'. So that's what I.... Of course I didn't, what an absolutely chavvy bodge job that would be. For future reference I'm pretty sure these connectors are micro quadlock: RS OnlineCheers

The door will just need to re-learn its end stops. Look up a manual for the motor online, the instructions will be there.

Ah right, with you now. It was only the two angle sections in the pillars, the grinder was used to remove the flange for a smooth look, can't remember if that was steel or glass though.

We never removed the body Grizz, so I'm not sure. One of the other guys might know better than me though.....

I found Chiltern timber were good for various thicknesses of Riga board (brand name for their phenolic ply). I've used 30mm for my work bench.

Maybe past the point of decision, but you were looking at wheels for one of these a while ago. I just heard of Bridgestone Super R.A.P.'s. The're a steel look, but aluminium wheel in 14 and 15". I reckon they look the part, and ~4kg/wheel:

Yes on magnets here too. Even the cheap corner clamp magnets do it if I get too close. Seems to drag the arc towards the magnet when I've had it.

I'd probably go dark grey, but then I'm not very adventurous with colour!

In my GT6 I had a small (maybe 0.5l) swirl pot upstream of the pump with no lift pump. That was running PI mechanical injection and drank like a fish so I think you'll be all right.
Bear in mind that if your using fuel at a significant rate the pump will lower the pressure in your sump/pot and pull fuel down as well as relying on gravity. You need to ensure that there's enough volume for a long bend (1.4l seems like more than enough) and I'd look at how the TR6/2.5PI are plumbed as I remember there being a separate house to bleed air from the swirl pot back to the tank on my system.

You can see the bypass actuator valves at the edges of that photo.
And yes, at low load/engine speed the valves are closed and all of the gas is forced through the mufflers to meet pass by noise regs. At high load/rpm they open up to keep the exhuast back pressure down and give a bit more 'voice'! Manufacturers play with the opening points for the different modes to get a different character in each.
I think every car with them has a forum with a cheat, BMW's it's the 'golf tee' mod, Aston Martin - it's 'fuse 9' etc.... When I bought my E46 the valve was non functional and it made it droney and horrible so it was sorted within the week. Short pipes will help avoid that though.

Are you going to shorten the u pipes? There's a lot of unnecessary straight pipe on the at the moment. Hopefully just there for mocking up purposes.

You don't want the tailpipes to be too long after the final muffler as this can cause drones.

Just found that on eBay, looks like good value! I couldn't tell from the listing, but does it come registered or will it need SVA?

Doesn't happen to be a Heidenhain one does it? I have a spare scale with no head, it's about 1800mm overall length (Not travel) from memory. You're welcome to it if it's of use? Many thanks for the offer.😃 It’s ordered and paid for,so just have to wait. Heidenhain is compatible, but it would be too long anyway No problem. I cut one down for my DRO install, so it is possible. Nerve racking, but possible!

Slowly getting things sorted out. Milling machine refurb has been fighting me all the way. Just had to order a new measuring scale for it. Sod’s law its the longest one, so no stock. 14 days and £1000 to have a new one made ☹️ Doesn't happen to be a Heidenhain one does it?
