Very few solicitors have enough knowledge in Motorsport to be able to put forward a decent case to defend you if all hell breaks loose. IOPD would provide a legal team with industry experience but most importantly will provide you with the correct documents and practices to make sure you don't get in trouble in the first place. the current booklet thats hadned out to us is about 60 pages of legal advice which gets updated whenever there are changes. Yes you will also need specialist insurance from the like of Reis Motorsport as well.
Yes you are correct MSUK (MSA) expect their marshals to do it for the love of the sport. As a business ourselves we bleieve if people are going out their way to help us out at events we should off them a small amoutn of money to help with costs to get to the event. For our rally events in Wales we give each marshal £40 and free food at the event as well as free camping. To give you an idea of costs to host our tarmac weekend events in Wales costs in excess of £5000

Thanks for the link. I checked it out but again the costs seem high,£400 for a transponder though. That's at least 2 folk racing cars on its own. And in the first pic I see there's a collection of Subaru inprezza. How much is one of them? I think the best way to approach this at the minute is to hopefully get some interest in this country and lich it as an alternative to banger racing and or tramp drifting. But along the same budgetary lines. Using an existing track would be prohibitive in terms of cost due to links with the FIA, BTRDA Judean people's racing association etc. So, I have a couple of possible locations at the minute and it would seem that the land owners are interested. This is mainly due to the land not doing anything any more and has no use. One is a disused WW2 airfield the other a disused quarry. Neither of which are near housing or land that could become housing. It would seem that to make it work initially it would be best to run it as a club where members can compete and also as place where people can book and turn up to race one of our cars much like a karting track. There are similar set ups in Sweden. Early difficult stages I know but I believe this has potential. Personally I think this to be a better option than banger racing as if you watch YouTube videos on banger racing and folk racing, bangers are more violent and that might put some off. Imagine a grid full of drifters and banger racers looking for a change of scene and each bringing their skills and experience to the grid and pits. Some very important things to consider if you want to put on any form of motorsport event. You need a permit for exemption from RTA laws for every event that needs to be gained through a governing body. MSUK are the most common body but are hard to work with. I'm a clerk of the course for a body Called IOPD who cover and govern many of the lower level club motorpsorts in the coutnry. We run about 8 events a year at a tarmac stage in Wales and they cover those, they would also help you in court should anything happen at an event. Annual membership is about £600. You also need to be insured for motorpsort inc public liability to cover drivers, staff marshals etc etc, for several events a year think between £1000-£2000. You need a marshal crew who needs flags, extinguishers etc, they often need paying about £40 each for the day plus hire of flags and extinguishers. You need a medical unit at a cost of about £800 per day.
Be warned if you do not cover all of these points and something happens at your event you can go to jail. We have just had a venue fined £30,000 for failing to be in line with correct rules and regs for running motorsport events.
I am permitted to oversee such events on behalf of the IOPD and i don't charge a great deal, so if you need any help just drop me a private message.

This is a fantastic thread. I have just browsed all 17 pages. I'm currently based in Wiltshire and we have our house for sale so we can move to wales for a change of lifestyle and for cheaper property. I can just see that one day I'm going to come home to the mrs to tell her ive bought something liek this haha. Will be following with interest. We are looking around the Brecon area ourselves.

Spring Touge in The Valleys Two Day Single Venue Tarmac Event – April 25th/26th New Entry (Timed Class A) If you have been to the odd retro show in the past or even follow one of the greatest online media outlets for modified cars on the planet, Speedhunters, you have probably seen Bryn’s Volvo 240 before, or his published work. Having owned this retro brick for over 20 years the only standard parts left on the car are the roof panel, pillars and rear diff casing. With nearly 300bhp and close to 400lbft of torque from its 2.3 turbo lump it will be interesting to see how this rather large family wagon gets around the tight twisty tarmac stage in Mid Wales.

Spring Touge in The Valleys – April 25th/26th New Entry (Timed Class A) We are not entirely sure if Terry and his Mk2 Escort will be chasing times on the tarmac stage or simply covering it in tyre smoke but he’s entered into Class A anyway. Either way its always great to see a Mk2 used as they were intended back in the old days. One of the most popular rally cars of all time.

Parts still required:
- 1x custom driveshaft - Poly windows - Semi Slicks - Rear discs and pads

Hot Wheels Premium & Team Transport Signed by the great Peter Brock Peter Brock is a legend in the motorsport world. Racer, designer and team owner. Both this Hot Wheels Real Riders Cobra Daytona Coupe and Team Transport Datsun 510 are both signed by the man himself at the famous SEMA show in the USA. Brocks connection with the Cobra Daytona was that he was both a test driver and designed the sleek body that went on to win the first ever FIA GT World Championship. Whilst with the Datsun 510 he had several built to compete in the Trans Am series in the 70’s and they destroyed the rest of the grid taking two titles. These are excellent replica models from Hot Wheels and are very rare to be signed by the man himself, proof of signing is available if required. For these sorts after items we are asking £50 per model.
