Guessing it's related to this article about 'regular cars' becoming classics. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39489527Annoys me a bit really, surely at some point in time, every 'classic car' has been readily available unless it's something really special :/

I don't get a lot of the negativity towards RR, reading Facebook comments etc people seem to expect him to stick being a backyard garage building fast turnaround, quick flips.
He saw an opportunity to build a brand and took it, fair play, who wouldn't, cash in while the desire is there I say. Can fully understand AK leaving but I don't think it's the end of GMG. It's a shame the way the show has gone, loved the first few seasons but it's a little boring now but the same thing happens to every car / bike / build show IMO.

I've had many but a couple of ones stand out... Years ago when I did my first 2L 20XE conversion on my old Corsa, everything went well, engine in and running within 2 days which for someone with no mechanical training I was pretty happy with ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Anyway, for some reason (and I really can't recall) I was changing the cambelt once the engine was in the car, I had changed it before I put the engine in but for some reason was doing it again very soon after, so here I am doing a belt swap which is fairly easy and my younger brother is my assistant, I'm tightening bits here and I say to him "tighten that tensioner up" ten minutes later it's all sorted and I give it a test drive, all good! Next day I'm on my way home from work on the motorway, 30 miles from home and the car cuts out in the middle of some long road works, manage to swing it in behind some cones and it's apparent its not going anywhere under its own steam, eventually get the car home and start pulling it apart, once the belt cover comes off the tensioner basically falls off - yep, my brother had done it pretty much finger tight, I take the blame for this given the fact I know he's a curse word idiot and I didn't check his work. Next one...same car.. So, dead engine swapped out and my new one is in, problem is I cannot get it to run at a normal temperature, car is constantly running hot, everything has been checked, checked again and double checked, I had replaced the thermostat a number of times, bought a fancy cool running thermostat, changed the rad - the who shebang. This went on for months, constantly flushing it, looking for air locks etc, so much time spent and plenty of money then one day I am filling the screen wash and notice my earth cable from the battery to the body is almost in two, make myself a new earth cable and guess what - the temp gauge now sits perfectly and everything is dandy! This one isn't as bad but... Was changing the ARB bushes on my TT which is a bit of a pig of a job, as with anything modern there is no space to work and you cut your knuckles to bits, got the old ones off and fitted the new ones, all went very easy which was shocking as when I did them on my S3 they where a pig, stand up very proud of myself until I look down and notice a very new looking ARB bushe on the floor, yep, on one side (the worst one for access obviously) I had removed the old bush, put it on the floor, picked it back up and refitted the same one! I'm sure I could come up with many more if I wanted to depress myself

Pulled it out the garage today, gave it a service and changed a few bits and bobs. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170325/6fc4a183eec3d20bc5be3573c9780380.jpg) All done ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170325/cd60921fe75b6a926b075f26ee9fa985.jpg) Spent a bit of time securing the side skirts and jacking covers so I'm happy to drive it now without the fear of bits falling off. Went for a drive ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170325/11a6e96a2fbc8027ec6aa89523cb7897.jpg) May well give the paint some attention tomorrow, clay bar, polishing and waxing but depends how i feel.

Very nice, owned an F plate red GTE myself and out of my 10 Nova's it was by far my favourite. Good luck with the resto but by the looks of it, it doesn't need any awful lot other than re-GTE'ing ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

They happily insured my 1995 Corsa GSi on a classic policy for two years and recently quoted for a 3rd years business. I have had to change companies though as they wouldn't insure it once I wound the coilovers right down ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/browraise.png) . Moved back to Greenlight who I was with for years and now have an agreed valuation on it and all mods declared. Probably won't help you though as AFAIK Greenlight don't insure BMW's

What concerns me at the moment is this logbook loan lark and the car being repossessed or what not, especially when you see cars cheaper than they should be. With these logbook loans, is the logbook taken by the loan company or does it remain in the possession of the vehicle owner? The loan company takes the logbook, but the scammer takes the loan money, applies for a new logbook (£25) then sells the car. This ^ Very popular scam these days, was caught out myself recently (long story). I would be very wary of buying a 2nd hand car these days

HPI is the only one I would trust.
It's the most expensive but the most thorough IMO.

Would have to be a Bad Boys style Turbo for me, pretty sure this is where my love of all things Porsche came from. ![](http://www.timmismotor.com/images/automall/full16635.jpg?lbisphpreq=1)

Fiesta XR2i (1.8) Always wanted one but once I owned one quickly realised they where slow, didn't handle very well and I really never got on with the seating position. Sold it on and kept my Corsa GSi which was quicker and felt better built. Could say the same about an Escort RS Turbo (S2). My friend got one, I drove it and thought, hmmm, is that it, they where always talked up as being super quick when I was a lad. Would have either now though

In 2007 I had been running my original Corsa GSi for 5 or 6 years and at 25 I was feeling the need to 'grow up' so I got myself an Audi S3 and planned on continuing the trajectory to better cars and forgetting about rusty Vauxhalls. 10 years later I drive a 2002 TT which I have zero plans to part with and another Corsa GSi lives in the garage so I can relive my youth whenever I feel like
