see, my AUTO aerodeck doesnt have any filler hiding any bodginess. the gearbox and engine are sweet, its starts up first turn after not starting it for 3 weeks, all the lights work, all the dials work, its stops as its suppose to and there is a single 1/2 cm of rust on it. it has 2 new tires and even the paint isnt anything to be ashamed of. it has leather, cruise control, sunroof and most diserable of all..a tape player! and its not a £400 banger though it is £400. I'm not trying to sell it to you because youre miles away, were you closer i would drive it over to you to see what you can buy for £400. have a look a look at civc aerodecks, slightly smaller, smaller engines and a lot of automatics which can be picked up for around £500. ...just needs a bit of this doing to it ...and a bit of this maybe...

Honda aerodeck sounds good, buy that?? i wish someone would! I'm using it today and tomorrow as I'm doing a waterpump in my daily drive. should take all of 3 hours but with me, inbetween fag break, chatting to neighbours, feeding cats, cups of coffee, hitting the crack pipe and looking at nudy pics will take 2 days. everything is working on it now though noticed a wobble at 70+ but I'm guessing itll need a wheel bearing, which ill investigate when I'm not dripping coolant. but its here..lonely...lol Save

i have an accordeck aerodeck for sale at the moment and just had a couple of people come take a look. i pointed out that the speedo doesnt work, the air needs to be colder but they walked away from it because there is a bit of a jiggle on the driver side door lock and the bonnet catch need a spring pushing back to get it to catch when we closed it.
it was for a woman but the guy she brought was the expert and and honest as you try to be he seemed determined to find a £400 bill(the price of the car).
he turned up in an accord and think that he didnt want her having a cleaner car than him.
ive had numerous cars that have been absolutely faultless, mot, everything working etc that people just don't trust.
i bet the car that they do buy is going to surprise them with bigger faults than the little things that i point out.
notchy door look....£400...?
and then the one you put all your faith in turns out to be a complete dog.
isnt that always the way : /

that filler cap design is definitely based on a standard japanese bike petrol cap-which are usually flat on a part of the tank that has been flattened out.
bit late now but surprised that it hadnt been mentioned already : /
love the grill btw!

probably depends on how long you are going to keep your purchase and how it is going to be stored-more so than make and model of car. i mean, how much does a basic but clean mini go for these days? ..something that you couldve picked up for £50 at some point. how much is a clean mk3 escort? a big purchase doesnt mean that youre going to get a big return. if youre going for profit then spread your bets maybe because youd need a crystal ball to work out what is going to be fashionable in x amount of years. with regard to special editions, sports, rs, personally i think an audi rs is going to plumet for a very long time before there is a rekindled demand for them. plan to buy something now or something in the future that will be cheaper then.. just buy a lump of gold and you wont have to build a barn for it or just buy the car you really want and just assume thats its an investment already. id like to buy a couple of e28 525s that come out on sunny days and overwinter in a warm shed

cat d isnt going to upset anyone-well, not me in the past.
those tubs seem to be a bit hard to come by though as they are more often then not rusted out or battered beyond use. have you thought about running it as a flatbed until a proper tub comes up?

What engine, What codes and using what reader? If it isnt the crank position sensor it will be the cam sensor and vice versa most likely. Sausage your username/avatar looks a familiar from the club lupo forum? The original thread is on there... 1.4tdi and code was P0321 (using vids-lite). I mistakenly replaced the camshaft position sensor first...thinking they were one and the same. So I already have done that one and garage has now done the engine speed sensor. When I get it back I'll rescan and see what it's saying... youre doing what the garage has done, if you have the sensors off then test them with an ohmeter. if the sensors are fine then you need to work out why they are showing up as faults or why they might be giving faulty readings..? depends if they said that they knew what the fault was and you agreed with them.
otherwise a mechanic can only do as good as you, albeit with more experience and tools.
if a mechanic is unsure then they should talk you through some sort of process of elimination and the potential work and costs involved, but then youre going to have to be interested and knowledgable about whatever it is theyy are talking about and you know some people just drop of the keys and say do your best, get on with it etc...
if i have to use a mechanic its do ask them to do something specific. if there is a problem that i don't have a clue about(and in some cases neither do they)its best to thoroughly talk it through with them and have a proper think about the worse case scenario or whether it is something you might stumble across yourself.
ultimately any purchases and work carried out should be authorised by the customer otherwise youre under no obligation to fill your end of the contract.
I'm happy to go to my local mechanic, pay them for their time for looking at something and taking the time to talk about it and then doing it myself if I'm capable and have the time.
when you have a mystery problem though, you have to put a limit on how much time you want them to investigate for you.
years ago, a garage told me i need to spend £450 odd quid to replace 4 sensors, i paid them £25 for the diagnostics, went home, had a look around my inlet manifold hose and patched a small slit with a piece of duck tape that cost me nothing and took all of 10 minutes.
so replacing things in sequence to rule them out seems like a bit of a lazy route to me because a sensor fault on a diagnostics doesnt mean that the sensor is faulty even. personally ive learned to test sensors and that garage i took my car to that time wouldve done better to test the sensors before creating a bill by wasteful practice.
just have your eyes open.
have you not posted on on here about it?

someone asked the reg of a car I'm selling to check its mot history.
i wanted to have a look myself to remind me, i had seen the history before i bought the car a few couple of months ago and it showed everything. today it is not recognising the details.
i tried to check another car i own that i have previously checked and its showing that it doesnt recognise the car..
anyone else tried recently?

i checked my mot history on a car i bought a couple of months ago and all the details came up fine...
however someone else is trying to check details on the same car today and the .gov database at the dvla doesnt recognise the car at all!
I'm guessing that there is a wide spread issue with wherever it is that farms out all these reg numbers and maybe thats why you paj isnt being recognised?
...and again i just checked the mot history on another car i own and its showing as not recognised too!
just a thought

the reg might have a number/letter wrong on the plate?
ive had better mileage out of pajeros than 22mpg.
even if that were the case, i think the savings you make in running costs will offset any mileage issues.
22mpg sounds like someone hasnt even bothered to change the air filter even.
i use to get closer to 30 mpg out of mine on a run of A roads or motorway.
