Get a hobby weld bottle hobbyweld.co.uk/home/cylinder-sizes/or adams gas www.adamsgas.co.uk/product-category/hobby-welding-gas/You want an Argon CO2 mix - you can use CO2 only but the arc is less stable at lower amps and you get a lot more splatter unless you are using a lot of gas (BOC for "Volkszone hobby deal if you do - if they still do it) You need a suitable regulator (£30 ish) and I'd probably suggest an in line flow meter (£10 ish) so you don't waste a lot of gas with excessive flow to the torch head Machine mart do a cheap welding trolley (£50 ish) that incorporates a bottle stand (chain) Thank you - this is really useful information. I have a Hobbyweld Supplier a couple of miles or so up the road so will go and have a chat with them - hopefully they will also have all the necessary attachments for a regulator that will work with my machine - don't really want to order one over the internet and then find I need all sorts of adapters. I must have pre-empted you and bought the welding trolley last week. It's not £50 anymore though... £83! Thank you everyone for your sage advice - this is SUCH an awesome forum.

I bought myself a Clarke welder which was miles better than my friend's old SIP I had on permanent loan - it showed I can actually produce something resembling a half-decent weld. Of course, at the moment I only have one of the tiny little bottles that you get with the welder, not a "proper" big gas bottle. I am considering getting one of these but I know absolutely NOTHING about setting this up, other than I need to get a regulator and the bottle needs to be held securely so it can't fall over.
Can somebody with experience please tell me what I need, what I don't need, what does what, and how much it's all likely to cost please? Ideally this needs to be explained in crayon as I am a bit of a novice. I am perfectly happy to get my hands dirty and try stuff - I would just like to know the basics.
Thanks!

I am after a single Revolution RFX 5x12" wheel - I only need to one to make a set of 4 into a set of 5. I don't want to use a standard 12" spare and don't want to have to buy a full set just to get one. PCD is 101.6mm, or 4" in old money. Do you have one kicking around? Condition not desperately important as I will be restoring them all anyway, but what do you have? I am based in Kesgrave near Ipswich but I can travel a bit if necessary. They look like this:

As those that have commented already, it is in very capable hands. Looking forward to seeing the results - and the journey there.
It's going to be a bumpy but fascinating and informative ride.

Anyone know whatever happened with Oldbus and his 2-door Cortina/Taunus estate? Loved that thread! Cortina 2 Door Estate

I am not a huge fan of green but I much prefer the Hunter. The Cranberry looks a bit "meh" by comparison, as if it has less body to it. The green really suits the lines of the Fury.

It seems that changing pollen filters on small blue Japanese hatches bring up similar results. This was the one in Mrs Bounce's Yaris a couple of years ago. Not as bad as yours, but still manky! Love reading your threads - excellent work and great write-up.

Bit late for me to reply guys, but the blue belts are suitably brilliant for use on metal - thanks for your assistance once again. I have only destroyed 3 through extended use rather than them falling apart so I am therefore pretty happy.

I thank my parents for many things but their dental genes is not amongst that long list! You have nothing but my sympathy for your dental pain as NOTHING touches it.
I could tell you the story in detail about my crazy dentist going ahead and doing some work whilst my tooth was still infected, but I don't want to induce any unnecessary wincing or involuntary grabbing of one's jaw in sympathy!
BMW work is going really well. Nice!

A 32 5W! HOW did I miss this??!!
American Graffiti is my all-time favourite film, and of course because of that I ache for a Milner repro. So I am watching this with a huge amount of interest.

Saw this Mercury SUV in Walmart's car park in Florida last month. The rear bumper was being held on with electrical flex as well. This is not the exception either - I'd say the majority of cars over 5 years old in the US have some sort of war wound on them. Saw a Subaru Impreza with the entire front wing missing doing 90-odd on the 192 and a Fiesta with its entire hatch window replaced with a plastic sheet. It's astonishing to see from a UK perspective when we're so subjected to safety-related MOT tests.

Thanks Dan. I keep making excuses to take it out! It's lovely.
Your mate's old R170 sounded like it had an extremely unusual problem. I have never heard of a similar issue, but if it is a major fault of the manufacturing, Mercedes are generally OK with sorting it, sometimes after negotiations. He probably had had enough of the SLK by the time he got it back though!!
I think Helga is slightly better looking than the new car, but there's no comparison when it comes to driving.

I remember my Dad hiring an estate version in this very colour. Cavaliers were everywhere in the 80s. They've almost all gone. Nice find!
