I bought a Black and Decker Powerfile last year and it's great - a really awesome bit of kit. However, I bought some replacement belts from Amazon and they're utter garbage. The abrasive material literally falls off after a few passes. The ones I bought had a good rating and were called STEBRUAM but they're about as useful as a heavyweight boxer trying to teach gymnastics - it doesn't work well.
I have used it for both wood and metal.
Can someone provide me with a decent link to belts which will not fall to bits when you switch the machine on??

No idea what I have, it is a lottery.
Some explode when you start them because the glued joins let go, I suspect age affects them.
But whatever items I had managed to order off eBay, they seem reasonable for durability and effect.
Just headed into a meeting, will see if they are in my long past purchase history.

I have the same bit of kit and am also having trouble with the belts but it is a different issue, that of the belts are too loose and keep walking off the tool! Never had a problem with the material falling off the belt, probably because they don't stay on long enough! Will have a look at the ones mentioned above. P.

I have worn out a few Black and Decker powerfiles but now i have a Makita one which lasts a lot longer. The belts are quit expensive so i buy a wider belt for a sanding machine which has the same length and cut these belts with a scissor in 8 small belts. I cannot remember which brabd sanding machine uses the same length but that should be possible to find out I do this for years and it works weel Peter

I've been buying these and they have been great, you have to be careful how hard you press but i've found if you go too hard the rubber comes off the wheel at the end of the file.
The slightly smaller ones work well and of course when the rubber does come of the wheel you can still use it as the belt is still tight!

Thanks everyone. Am trying some Zirconium belts (my friend also suggested these) so I will report back how good they are.

Bit late for me to reply guys, but the blue belts are suitably brilliant for use on metal - thanks for your assistance once again. I have only destroyed 3 through extended use rather than them falling apart so I am therefore pretty happy.
