Full marks for perseverance - I know from, bitter experience, how badly the Super Minx / Vogue / Sceptre of this period rust!

That'll be the cityrover I was a passenger in one once. It was the most nothing car ive ever known. That's the one! Although I think you spelt the model incorrectly. Sounds similar though... Basically a rebadged Chinese Tata

More confusion . . .
Spitfire 4 ? A Mk 4? No, the original spitfire (4 for 4 cylinder), only referred to as the Mk1 when the Mk2 appeared, then the Mk3 and then the Mk4 (not to be confused with the Spitfire 4 which was the Mk1 - but not until the Mk2 appeared.) What came after the Mk 4? The Mk 5 surely? Nope, that was called the Spitfire 1500 . . . .
Humber Super Snipe : first there was the Mk 1 - 4 followed by the Series 1 - 5 . . . . Humber Hawk : Mk 1 - 6 followed by Series 1 - 4 . . . .

The April 2020 issue of ClassicsMonthly magazine did a piece on the Rover Streetwise referring to it as an ' emerging Classic' . . . .

OK, OK, there's no way that you are allowed to use conduit like that for your wiring without letting on exactly what it is and where you get it! Please

Should have had the fins from the factory! Good looking project. They really should have rolled out of the factory like it!

I had the same with a subscription offer from Dennis Publishing (Auto Express) - they offered a car cleaning kit which I never got until I complained and then what they sent was an 'alternative'.

Had a few of these over the years - 1966 Morris, 1966 Riley version (Kestrel)- twin carbs and rusted out subframe - I lived in fear of taking off and leaving the rear wheels behind . . . . .
They are fun, but pretty curse word to drive - god knows how they sold so well back in the day.

Have to say, I think the Dolomite Sprint is all about the original 16valve twin cam motor . . . .put an Ecotec in a lesser Dolomite by all means, but not the Sprint. Just my humble opinion. Yeah I know! I've ruined it! Worse than that, i've ruined a rare (less than 60 surviving) Sprint auto! But that is a different thread! If I don't sound repentant, it's cos i'm not! PS point of order, The original Sprint engine does have 16 valves, but only ONE cam! I have one of those too, another Hens Tooth auto, which will retain it's original powertrain!
You are of course absolutely correct - the Sprint engine does only have the one cam . . . . unless you carry a spare one in the boot . . . .

Why on earth would you want to fit an Ecotec poo lump in one - they're bad enough in most Vauxhalls?! I'm not going to get into a long debate about the pros and cons of the Ecotec. All i'll say is "have you ever worked on a Sprint engine?" The Ecotec is a model of efficiency and reliability by comparison! And the Aisin/Warner transmission behind it (it's a Z22xe with less than 70k original miles) is just about bulletproof! The car is not designed to be a racer, I have the Carledo for that! This is supposed to be a long legged and reasonably economical and comfortable long distance cruiser. I have high hopes for it! Steve

Isn't that a cut down Traveller rather than a factory pick-up?

I didn't realise that that the Sinclair C5 was actually released 35 years ago - I thought it escaped . . . .
