Problem solved Found a decent enough 1990 range rover classic v8 manual, good chassis, all usual rot points on the body have been done, runs well enough did a genuine 21.0 mpg on the way home and didn't miss a beat. Mpg thought I worked it out wrong but nope Just a few cosmetic niggles to sort

Bit like all things landrover really, makes me cry to think what I paid and sold stuff for years ago, Would disco 2 v8 engines and boxes work? I assume the electric side would be more complicated, but aside from that would the physical fitment be a problem?

curse word lol, just my luck. So in essence it would entail finding a engine and gearbox combo and swapping them complete. Again a hard ask lol

Hi there people I have decided I am going to purchase a new to me motor, a range rover classic. Fat enough you say but! For me it has to be a v8 and a manual shift
I know I know but that's my preference
As manual v8 rangies are few and far between I've thought about creating my ideal motor, either by
1. Buy v8 auto and convert to manual 2. Buy a diesel manual and convert to v8
Now to me the diesel manual convert to petrol v8 makes most sense to me as it will have all the hard to source bits like clutch pedal and interior trim, but what difference would there be in the gearbox? Is the diesel box different to the v8 manual box ratio wise. Will it fit to the v8?
And thoughts appreciated

Paint the putty so it does not dry out and crack again? Least thats what i always told to do, so it doesn't crack and fall out and remains flexible to allow for expansion and contractions of frame and glass

My 1983 city e has a earth / ground lead running from the head to the bulk head where the top stabiliser is, it's quite a thick lead and common over here, pre dates the mpi minis so might me worth fitting on there.

I have the same issue occasionally, on mobile and only this site, usually happens when I click on the button for different page number threads. Ie to go to last page from first page as bookmarks direct me to the first page not the most recent post.

that paddock is mental, do you live on a peat bog ? Nope but it used to be the old village allotments that were abandoned due to being overly wet That paddock is bone dry compared to our fields, would kill for that lol. Some off ours are wetter than that in the middle of summer.

This should be good lol. Having never seen or heard a piaggio ape until this thread imagine my surprise to be overtaken by three on a trailer coming off the m4 at Swindon. If anything like your previous threads will be most entertainment

It's just a black plastic rear loading cap, no logo or anything looks like this goo.gl/images/D7MFhPAlso there are nut caps, Just really want to know if these are suitable for 3d printing or not.

Could you make centre caps for alloy wheels with one of these? As the ones for my alloys are no longer available and i am missing two. Might be another avenue for you to look at. Alloys in question are 10" mini exacton / 1100 special edition.

Took the alternator to local auto electrics place and yep, anything that could be blown was lol. Got a ribbing over red and black and the difference lol. £80 got me a repaired and tested unit, a nice saving over the £180 I was been quoted for service exchange unit. Fitted it today getting drowned in torrent of rain and ta da a working car. Everything seems to work as it should thank god.
Seems the alternator took the hit and saved the electrical systems.
Lesson to be learned? Don't mix jump leads up! Lol

Well got around to checking the alternator, on idle it was kicking out 18.5 volts and boiling battery fluid in the battery. God knows what output was at higher revs when the electrical gremlins start showing up. So front end pulled off and alternator extracted. Hopefully get it fixed tomorrow and see what happens.

Haven't had chance to test yet as away all week driving me lorry - daily driver with 500bhp and a v8 lol. Did try a battery off my other mini which was a fully charged as it will get and it starts fine but battery warning light comes on then things start shutting down. Will be home for the weekend and will definitely be checking output before ripping the car apart.

2003 cooper s.
Everything works as it should with ignition on but engine not running.
Engine running things start playing up, shuting down random items ie power steering goes off, Rev counter sticks, abs, traction control light comes on, Windows don't work. Oh yeah battery light comes on as soon as you lift revs above idle and that's when things play up
My thinking at the moment is that the alternator has gone. Engine off everything runs off battery so works as should. Engine running body control module expects power from alternator so when it doesn't receive it, it shuts things down to manage the electrical load.
If the ecu or bcm had been damaged then things wouldn't work engine off and engine wouldn't run or start.
