Don't think I've ever commented on this thread, but its almost the RR Soap , the trials and tribulations , always puts things into perspective .Innovative solutions , recycling and imaginative resourcing and that's without mentioning some very cool pieces of automotive art .
Feel like I know you but never met you , and I think that's true of most of RR , although we've never met we probably would all refer to each other as friends and mates , so thank you for the entertaining reading , and the occasional pain that we all share , Merry Xmas and Happy new Year to you , life would be dull if we just sat in our garages , life's about sharing and your a great example.

53, the car that still eludes me is a 911, got as close as a 3.2 boxster S but not quite a 911, the other items on the list included Mexico and RS2000 and I was able to scratch those off during the period they were everywhere,
The other car was my Clan, came from reading Triple C , and although Custom Car and Hot Car followed by Street machine and Hot Rod and Custom it was always back to Triple C and Auto Performance.
Lucky enough to now be able to buy and fix most toys that I buy on a whim latest being an Elan +2 but should never of sold my XR4 x 4 2.9 so that's one I'd buy back but the real defo buy back is Yamaha XT500.

Did much the same with the Clan, no need for filler on a fibre glass car, well not the huge amounts on show.
best advice I got was to build up the low areas using fibre glass tissue , you will be surprised how little filler you will need at the end .
The only bit I remain unhappy with is the infill for the sunroof, i'm told its because its low (roof is below my waist) and I know its there that I see it, whereas others don't notice!
Keep going, I did a weeks course at Leeds City College (paint), best money I ever spent, gave me the confidence to push on, and trust me ,the satisfaction of getting bodywork right outweighs doing the mechanical bits

well why not use ordinary bolts? but make a top plate to fit the axle, you have access to a few machines or could fab up the top plate.

Brilliant, I've done similar with concrete panels , turned a single into a double, own roof etc, just shows what imagination can do. I'm fortunate I have the space and I just keep extending
Made me think about cladding the interior and insulation.
Enjoy your new workshop, just don't fill it or store gear that impacts on the workspace you've created or you'll get frustrated and want to extend it!

how about putting a fake spare wheel on the bonnet , and in effect using it as a chimney? remove most of the wheel centre and place a large fan inside to extract the air

So I bought a vehicle thats been in hibernation since 1998, so no V5, simple(just pay £25 for a legal document that you have) apply for new doc
Vehicle needs tax, hmmm cant tax because no V5, so complete a form you'd think and do at same time, nope, system in meltdown as V5 not in my name
Post Office gets rejected application
Swansea , cant do it as need to do security check
So if you sell a vehicle with no V5, under new rules the new owner cant transfer tax (na in my case) can't sorn or tax it until security checks are done, and thats 4 to 6 weeks on average
Whats the odds on getting a SORN fine for the time the vehicle is registered in my name (date of purchase) until I can tax it, if I attempt to use the backtax is until 1998 !

DEPARTMENT FOR TRANSPORT (DFT) REQUEST FOR COMMENTS ON EXEMPTIONS FROM PERIODIC TESTING FOR CLASSIC VEHICLES The Department for Transport has set up a website for people to discuss and make suggestions about changes to roadworthiness tests for classic vehicles.
In Great Britain, all vehicles manufactured before 1960 are exempt from regular roadworthiness testing. The new EU Roadworthiness Directive allows the continuation of this exemption from testing if vehicles are over 30 years old and haven’t had substantial changes made to them. To continue to exempt classic vehicles from regular testing, there will be a need to update UK law by 2018 to reflect EU law. In response to this, the Department for Transport has set up a website for people to discuss and make suggestions about changes to roadworthiness tests for classic vehicleswww.dft.gov.uk/classic-mot/survey-classic-vehicle-exemption/Classic Vehicles: exemptions from periodic testing,
To help with the change process, DfT is looking for information and views from interested people and organisations. In particular, DfT is looking for a solution that:
'supports the government’s aim for better regulation that minimises the burdens on vehicle owners and businesses'
'supports the Governments aims for better road safety'
In particular, there are two specific questions that DfT is looking for response to:
1. Do you think that classic vehicles should be exempt? 2. What criteria should be used?

Taxation class is the one thing on a V5c that can't be changed on its own I believe it can only be done in conjunction with a tax application , as the poster above says not yet law and earliest you might be able to apply will be 1st April.
In fact just read the V5 ' the tax class shown in section 4 can only be changed when taxing. Please apply at your nearest DVLA local office'
that will be the offices they are closing !!!!

try Trevor at Iscold , www.iscoldautomotive.com/ or try Andy or Steve at Automotive www.automotive-electrical.co.uk/Either will be able to make up either bubble crimped hoses or adapt existing hoses using Lok Ring adaptors. Don't be tempted by 2nd hand hoses as realistically a hose has ten year life span and they will be set in their shape. Last word don't expect it to be cheap, fittings can be very expensive.
