Right i've been on here ages and never done a proper readers rides thread so heres goes. I've had my MGB now since 2004, first ever classic and it was a completely standard '78 rubber bumpered MGB GT. It has gone through many looks, engines (x3)and rear axles/diffs (on my 4th!) and ive loved it apart from the Numerous mechanical failings Now I didn't know how to start with this thread as i've got literally hundreds of photo's so I will skip through some pictures year by year and finally get upto date where the serious work is taking place. How she looked when I bought her in 2004 for £2000. Half cage and bucket seats, harnesses fitted so I could get her on the track with some safety, First Trackday with www.mgs-on-track.co.ukA very often sight on the drive.... Car driven daily for almost two years.. Some more track action... Piston rings then let go after the above trackday, Puffing smoke from the dipstick, Perfect Excuse for a V8 ;D out she goes... Being a rubber bumper shell only minor tunnel mods needed to allow clearance for the lt77 5 speed box, engine mounts etc need no mods. (all seam sealed and tidied up after this but don't have a pic) V8 in place, Slight clearance issue with the current carb/filter set up! Good view though! I was told it would be tight and they wasn't lying, V8 Axle and prop being fitted easily the most expensive part of the conversion, Oil pressure always nices to see on a v8! How it ran for a bit, bonnet bulge is a baking tin from asda After this it underwent a major revamp but I seem to have misplaced the progress pictures for now, Mod's were, Debumpered, Sebring rear valence, st front spoiler, custom bonnet, lowered and some fresh paint (£500 self prep jobby).... Steel bulge off a Mistubishi Prajero and louvres off a hotpoint microwave grafted in ;D End result, The 3.5 v8 then started rumbling quite badly on start up so new engine time and were now at about 2009 and this is how she looked before she was taken off the road this time for the 3.9 v8 EFI to be fitted. Yet to be posted the 3.9 v8 installation, new cills, floor repairs, inner wing repairs and sebring kit.....just want to post this before I lose it all!

If you break the shell, could be interested in the front wings depending on condition? can collect and remove if needed?

Ive had an mgb sebring kit from them, rear wings spot on, fronts are going to take alot of work fit wise, but seems this is the case with any supplier. The guys are nice enough and very reasonable price wise oh and pay cash if your collecting and get a discount if you know what i mean ;-)

Oil was nice and clear and coolant in the front case was clean so no signs of a headgasket failure. Ive had a rachet on the bottom pulley and its blasted some bits of orangey rusty water out so nice and water free now and put some oil down the bores for the time being, will spin it on the starter like you say to blast any other curse word out! Actually i really must start a build thread for this......

I have recently put a 3.9 v8 in my mgb, unknown history of the engine as it came from a breakers (out of accident damaged car) but looked to have been a fairly recent rebuild, very clean heads, freshly painted block and when I swapped the sump over everything looked nice and fresh.
However, when it was delivered it had no plugs in it and a small amount of rain water went down the bores, so I quickly drained out as much as I could and chucked plenty of oil/wd40 down there to minimise any corrosion.
When I came to turn the car over a few months later there was a certain amount of resistance when turning it over by hand using the bottom pulley, but I slowly rocked the pulley by hand and its freed off nicely and no nasty noises.
I have spun the oil pump on the drill and it gets great oil pressure and compression seems fine on each cylinder.
But I keep worrying about that water, is it likely to have caused much/if any damage? as i'm not in the position to get it started yet to find out....

4 x Alloys in need of refurb, no major kerbing just need stripping back and painting. Removed from an MGB so 4x114.3 fitment. £50 the lot, thats £12.50 a rim, good tyres on 3 of them but one has a split in the sidewall. Based in West Mids, collection only. What they look like fitted when painted up,

I was just scanning through some of my photo's and I found one that I looked at for that little bit longer than than the rest, mainly becuase it was one of those 'moments' when you stand back and just look..you know when you get that 'f#ck yeah i've done it feeling'... Well here's my recent 'moment'.... Basically had the task of fitting the fresh v8 and gearbox into my MGB on my own (usually a fiddly task with two people), took most of the morning and comprised of jacking the MG up and down and using the engine crane in various positions as it is such a tight fit it's untrue but once it was done with the added bonus of not damaging anything....i had a 'moment' Whats your latest retro moment? Moment = A specific point in time, especially the present time: A particular period of importance, influence, or significance in a series of events or developments

Boot Stuck Shut = MOT Failure?GavinJ

Not an easy fix though, its a 2004 micra, works off an electric switch and its got electrical issues! basically no power to the switch and the wires dissapear into the loom, i have tried stealing power from elsewhere but it makes no odds so i think it has to recieve a signal or something from a component at the front of the car? when the central locking is activated? got to get an autoelectrician out but cheapest i have found is £49 an hour!
