Hullo Luke A small air leak would not prevent starting. Furst check that you have a spark - at the plugs. Does you system still use points? If so check that they ahven't closed up. Double check the ignition timing. I found years ago that 1300s were very sensitive to the plug gap (25 thous). I daresay that 1200s are much the same. Paul Hey Paul. Good to see you on here. To be honest I think the rusty fuel tank is favourite. Not got points any more. I will have a play about with it today check the various gaps etc and report back.

probably more curse word coming from the 50 year old fuel tank but I wondered if the electronic ignition had troubles when hot starting? I have heard of this so wondered if it was a common thing?

fitted an electronic ignition kit from 'powerspark' and the fulvia started first time and seemed great. The fueling trouble I had seemed to be sorted as I cleaned out the whole fuel system. Set the valve tappets and went for a run. It ran really nice but now I cant start the car. It started to have a few troubles with running fast and idleing running badly by running fast for no reason then I fiddled a bit with the slow running and the sycronisation screw for the twin carbs. No good set them back to what they were .Now it will not start. Anyone else had trouble with hot starting problems with electronic ignition?
I feel like going back to points and I didnt have any trouble like this. Any help?

It was said that there are "at least a thousand in use", but I don't think so. Maybe 4 or 500. Lancia made a total of about 150,000 Coupés, so who knows how many have been saved/are in barns/have been turned into woodland sculptures. Theres definitely more HF fulvias and Fanalones than there used to be. its often said there are more than were actually made !!!!! Both of the cars Ive got arent on any Database or with the DVLA. I used to think that there were very few about. But there are 5 relatively local to me in sussex and there could be quite a few tucked away. www.youtube.com/feature=player_embedded hopefully heres a shakey poor quality video of the LMC 50 years at goodwood with lots of fulvias.

finally got the caliper piston assemblies. I'm really pleased with them. Fully stainless and two seals inside. They come from a series 1 E type and are about 2mm bigger than the originals. The fulvia rear ones are an unusual size and as they are not really available. So I went for these being very near and a simple bolt on and off you go. You can read their company logo which is blatantly all over them. They were easy to bleed which is a great sign for a dunlop system fulvia as usually they are a total pig. The discs themselves are in a poor state but the car does now move and stop...!! There is a bit of an annoying very small weird misfire which I think is something on the fuel side but a real turning point for me in this journey. PHEW

installed electronic ignition (powerspark) for a 1970 Bedford CF which fits the Marelli distributor with a small alteration. You have to take the whole thing to bits to fit it but it started first touch ....yes!! made up some new leads as the old ones were brittle. Nice few little jobs as I'm still waiting for the piston assemblies for the rear calipers. I'm getting to the point were I should name and shame the company as they are not doing a very good job. Ive been waiting for nearly a month. They said twice they would arrive by the end of the week and they keep ignoring my emails, not calling back, and generally not giving any customer care. Last chance....its been Easter and stuff like that but I'm being patient !!!

don't forget the calipers as the brake hoses were holding the whole subframe to the car when I did it. They leaked really badly after their stretching.... silly mistake. Its much easier than it sounds... honestly. Also there is a section of the footwell that is really hard to get to for de-rusting/welding without getting the subframe out the way. I took the engine out and then the subframe after but I recon it would be much easier to take the whole subframe out rather than just the engine. Ive got a few pictures of the body etc in my thread Pages 4 and 5 and 8 ish Oh and have a look at the great stuff that goldnrust has done. retrorides.proboards.com/thread/142841/1972-lancia-fulvia-coupe-pastures

Corners starting to come along. It's a very tricky area but have got the curves sorted after many attempts. Sits correctly so started to stitch in. This is such an important area to get the look correct. Cut outer sills away to reveal a complete horror at the back. Lots to do. nicely done with the rear corners. How are the rear subframe boxes ??

good stuff there. I think I should have cut more out of those rear panels above the lights as you have done. Those boxes for the subframe mounts look as bad as mine were. Thats not too easy to get right but Its all a positive move forward and you are doing a great job keep it up.

Thanks JP and VW it was a case of dive in and get it done. I think the thought of it was worse than the actual doing it. its not an amazing job but its got new metal in where there was rusty stuff and it will now last a bit longer than before.
