I'm trying to find a company that can rebore a block for my lancia fulvia. The engine block that I would like to have bored is to fit a set of pistons I have. 76,6 mm bore. Its a small square cast iron block and its in a narrow V configuration. Someone in Sussex south east would be good. Tried Southern Rebores and Sprabuild that have been recommended but they cant do a V4. Cheers Luke

Enjoying this thread...Such a great car, Didnt know much about these but they're great looking and nice engineering too. A bit like my fulvia but the engine in the back ...thats cool. The solex carbs are fine on the fulvia though lots of people moan about them. My experience of them is that the best ones are the early ones which are the ones made before fiat reduced the build quality when they took control of the lancia purse strings. If they are properly set up and rebuilt with the bushes on the butterfly spindle and the diaphragms renewed they are good. Dellorto's were an option for the fulvia but are hard to find and expensive. The webers as youve said were another option for the fulvia and they are good too. The synchronisation of the solex is the key as each choke/barrel and each pair need to be together not fighting each other then they are smooth and nice. I'm not an expert but thats the bit thats not easy to get right, ive found. Looking forward to progress with yours.

Get it going, then build another engine later. Yep you're right. I need to get the spare block machined to fit the good set of pistons and get it together and then vavoom

whats happening this Xmas eve.... well I'm putting fulvia engine bits in the dishwasher of course... Before one of my customers old dishwasher goes to the dump Ive set it up in the garden to dishwash some bits of engine. Pistons at the top where the glasses and mugs go, crank case and rocker covers at the bottom on a 70 degree intensive cycle also added some soda crystals to help de-grease. hopefully that will work???

I absolutely loved my estima lucida and I bought one for the missus too. They came from a mate who was importing them a few years back. He stopped importing them after all the troubles with the heads. Mine was a fantastic bus, if a bit juicy. My mate said the secret was to thrash the pants of it as often as possible and the coolant then gets washed all around the engine. He said they only get driven in traffic in Japan and never get driven fast and so the cooling system never gets fully churned. So I took his advice and thrashed it about and as an auto it wouldnt overdo it. I did run it on veggie oil sometimes because of the cost of fuel for it. It was excellent in the snow (4x4) and also a couple of times I had to drive it across really wet grass field and it was great at that too. It had electric everything (even electric curtains) and was very comfortable. If you get one thats not an overheater they are good and have a really cool look. Ive got a few parts knocking about that you can have for the postage. I,ll have a look to see what ive got an let you know.

heres why the crank was tight. The thrust bearing on one side has a big scratch down it. It must have moved and got pinched when I put it in. Another is now fitted and the crank moves smoothly by hand now. The fulvia thrust bearings are a bit fiddley to fit and I found that a bit of assembly lube holds them in nicely to the cap while the crank goes in. Need less to say they are really clean now and third time assembled they feel nice and smooth when I turn the crank by hand. So torque wrenched up and so now to get the block installed onto the case. Shall I use the pistons and block that are from the seized engine and just need rings and a good clean up.... or get the block bored out to fit the biggest size overbore pistons Ive got from the original engine...or shall I use the slightly bigger block and pistons from the 1300 that I hope to get from another lancia guy in a little while.... or shall I splash out for the (supidly expensive) 80mm high compression pistons from italy and have the block bored to fit to make a race engine? Easy and get it done or bigger and a whole load of work but more grunt??

Ive just been watching youtube about engine building because I thought the crank was a bit tight. I should be able to turn the crank easily by hand shouldn't I?? Think I definitely need to clean those bearings off again. Got to be clean clean clean. A bit of lube too. Whats the point in doing it if its not done as well as I can, right?

Enjoying this thread. Keep at it, you'll have a fantastic car. thanks guys ...yep need a bit of a lift with it all at the moment. Still could be worse, I could have nothing to cobble an engine together with. AND Ive got plenty of interesting options with what Ive got.....So onward and upward.

Keep at it... we all have periods of low mojo with cars we're working on when things feel nearly there then seem a million miles away. Got the same with my Datsun at the moment, so trying to keep things small and achievable. These are such lovely cars, I really want one! thanks for this
