As long as the inner race has no play on the stub axle, I'd just fit the bearing. How do Simon, good to hear from you. A bit strange about the bearing, couldn't hear any noises even off boost. I only found the bearing issue as I'm fitting E-Class brakes, so I reckon I got lucky in not destroying the stub axle. Happy Xmas.

Thanks everyone. I guessed it would be but it's good to get second opinions.
Happy Xmas one and all.

looks like a bearing has spun on it possibly, have you tried the bearing for fit? Yeah the bearing race had excessive play and was moving on the stub axle. The new bearing fits without issue.

Front lower wishbones/LCA bushes do fail and it's not easy to see or tell if they are starting to break up. Same goes for the ball joint too.
The only way is to remove both bolts and have a look. If the bushes or arms have not been replaced in your ownership I'd bet they need to be replaced now. New arms/bushes can transform the suspension.

The Sunny is a good shout. I'd have it as a first 'project' car over a 205.

Alfa 156 2.0. Good one's sub £2k. A bit of a curved ball but that would be my pick. I had a 2.5 v6 156 last year they definitely like to rust... Are they all rusty? I've been tempted to get one a while now.

Really like them, something different too. A Mazda 2.5 V6 would be nice in it.

One of the nicest wheel designs to grace any 80's Merc imo. These exact wheels were standard fitment on the 190E 2.5-16 EVO (1).
GLWS, should have little bother selling them.

The method you're using is fine for changing the PAS fluid. What I do is suck the reservoir, refill and start the engine and turn the st.wheel from lock to lock about four times and syphon the reservoir again. Do the same again in 12 months and that should be it for a few years.
I suspect the correct method is to drain from the return line (low pressure) but being candid I'm adverse to disconnecting old hydraulic hoses/pipes.

Indeed, stand corrected on the E46, even if mine was not an LCI. Yes they did facelift all the models I mentioned , every manufacturer does, not just BMW. My point for the second time is BMW use names like LC Impulse (ffs) and Ultimate. That's all. No more to it than that. LCI, facelift, phase 2, every manufacturer has a name for it. BMW just decided to come up with something That’s super Capitalist tosh to make it sound well fancy. BMW just decided to come up with something That’s super Capitalist tosh to make it sound well fancy. ''BMW just decided to come up with something That’s super Capitalist tosh to make it sound well fancy. That, I totally understand. It is a guff name for something so mediocre.'' Ha,ha. That's one way of putting it!

No at all. Far from it, in actual fact I'm a previous owner of 2002's, E21's, E30, E32, E34 and an E46. Of course they were non LC 'Impulse' cars as LCI and 'Ultimate Pack' versions didn't exist. It seems, most here have missed the point of my thread and my comment about marketing and the nomenclature used. But ‘LCI’ versions of, for example, the E46 exist, they facelifted the model mid lifetime, and weather the term facelift or LCI or whatever is used, it still happened Indeed, stand corrected on the E46, even if mine was not an LCI.
