Grizz, your van looks stunning as is & no amount of toonwork is going to make it better imho. In fact, I reckon it may even devalue it. Of course, that saying of "It's yours to do want you want with" still stands so please ignore me accordingly! That beige Audio Van is downright commercially cool and just shouts uber simplicity.

Sometimes very rarely, we are surprised that in our world of poorly made parts, something actually exceeds our expectations. The point of this is that after a dead battery on the XC70 last Monday and living rurally, I ordered a replacement unit which came and was fitted yesterday. The old one had worked very well up to this point and did after a charge, continue to work fine. Anyhoo, I looked at the Volvo branded (made in Germany) battery which I removed and did some research about it's age. I was blown away seeing it was manufactured in December 2005 and subsequently fitted to my 2006. I have never had a battery still in daily use which was 17 years old so in a nutshell, I'm impressed!
The few brain cells still in my head started thinking about how. I believe that as it is located in the boot and out of extreme weather and the harsh engine bay, this may contribute towards its longevity but who really knows? Anyone have a view on this and indeed is using a car with a battery even older?

I can't be the only one blown away at the level of detail going into these vehicles. I mean, you just don't see any form of bodgery at all ! After you sit down & really analyze the standard of workmanship, you can begin to understand why so many are north of 100k. I don't want to be put in a virtual automotive box but it's clear that my skillset and budget will clearly remain in the survivor/redneck category Out of all of this most recent photodump, that little 52 pick up is just up my street!

I usually like the big old 70's/80's box shape best but just came across these pics and thought this might be the most apt current thread to add them to. They kinda remind me of the old C3 Corvette Sportwagon in that they really, really shouldn't work but somehow I'm extremely drawn to them. I'll take the one without the wing. Must dig pics of my old WRX Wagon and add them here when I get chance also. There's something strangely attractive about these! I would have one

Travel safe boet and make sure your treasure bag is well secured It's wierd but I am not only envious of your trips there, but it honestly brings me joy seeing what it does and means for you. George will be waiting and expecting to be lathered with treats and affection. I could never imagine leaving my boy for 3 weeks!

A bump for attention. Not a lot happening here after all the attention Your first thread received here. Has something actually happened since You got he keys? Rent out car storage space til the actual project can start? Well braaap, there's been things happening every day but it's all preparatory stuff at the moment as you can imagine. We have only had it two weeks although it seems longer! There's been a number of tools going in from a few donors and promises of other kit from others but these things do take time. I would rather take this time and do it properly and with longevity than rush things through with little thought as there is too much at stake. It's never been in my character but I'm learning fast not to feel awkward or embarrassed to ask for stuff . I have also approached an organisation up here called The Third Sector who help charities and groups to raise funds and they have been very supportive of our aims so hopefully help will happen although it once again takes time. Some of the challenges will be our semi rural location, this damn recession we are in and of coarse, exposure in getting our name out there. We are actually having an informal meeting tonight with interested folk to see how we can speed things up as well as investigate funding idea's etc! Hand on heart, I would like to see it up & going by January next year but make no mistake, we are aiming for tomorrow

That is a great to the point ad and a very decent price for a helluva car. Wonder what it does mpg wise I did like the way the ad is written, would be lying if I said I didn't spend part of my lunch break earlier reading up about w211 rear suspension and SBC brake issues ๐
A quick search seems to suggest a range from high teens to high 20s although I think those were US mpg numbers so 20s to low 30s on a run in UK numbers?... I hate asking the MPG question but nowadays it really is a consideration when coupled with the ever increasing insurance charges. Like many I imagine, I have bought thirsty cars (still have one!) but end up not enjoying it 100% because of the constant fuel costs. That merc would be superb to own but I doubt it would never be really appreciated with the nagging running costs

Got this message from a guy on www.astrosafari.comGrizz, If you have any interest, I have a goid condition stock Chevy steering wheel for an Astro. Doesn't match my GMC... Yours for taking if you want it. So now I need to orchestrate this. It is not a โsport steering wheel โ as fitted, but I like the idea of putting things back to standard. Letโs see what happens. Looks exactly the same as on my 92 K1500. I actually want an aftermarket one!

Such a great thread here, I'm heartened to see it. Mental health is a big part of my life in part because I work full-time in a 35 bed secure psychiatric hospital in the US. Most of my patients are required to be here (at work now) for a minimum of 5 days because two doctors agreed that it would be best. Many wouldn't think that it's a fantastic job, but it really is. The level of humanity in places like this can only be experienced rather than explained. I call it "the world's biggest glass house" because there's no one here throwing stones. No judgement, no stigma and no minimizing. Last week a patient asked me if I'd print up a picture of a '77 Pontiac Firebird for her to color because she had one when she was young. She saw me coloring a picture of an Abarth SImca, and it reminded her of her former car. I've done this with many patients over the years, and the ensuing conversations are always rapport building. I'm known for coloring old Euro cars, coloring/drawing are two of the few things people can do here because of the level of safety required. Over the years, many patients have told me that watching me color cars is calming for them and some have returned years later and told me that they still have a car picture that I'd colored and given to them. I usually color while I talk with people and when I finish the car I'm coloring I summarize the conversation we had on the back and give it to them. At work we begin with the understanding that we didn't ask to be mentally ill, and that we're not just willfully misbehaving. The patients come to understand that so long as they know they're working as hard as they can on their mental health, that the rest is forgivable. The understanding that we are all here figuring out the answers to the problems we didn't ask to have is written into our culture, as is the understanding that we have a responsibility to do our best to manage what we can. My own depression is crippling at times, and I'm medicated for it. I'm truly amazed that I've made it to middle-age, and middle-class. That I graduated from university and that I've kept the same job for many years is still amazing to me and I'm grateful every day for the support I have, both at home and at work. I thank my patients regularly for their part in keeping me well. we are everywhere! What a wonderful experience to share, thank you. You are clearly very committed to making a positive difference and it's fantastic that you are able to use your craft and love of cars to convey this. Well done indeed.

Watching with interest, as our two are hitting puberty and longer trips in the mk5 GTI are starting to feel a bit cramped, even with the roof box. I want an RS4, but need to build a good case for it... Non retro content but bleedin glorious!

Can't comment if applicable to your wheels but on many vehicles, once the m/c has had air in it, bench bleeding the m/c will is essential to getting a consistent "feel"

A master craftsman indeed. Nice concise website too. My mind did wander a bit trying to comprehend the money that gets exchanged over there! I'm clearly living at the bottom of the pond
