As we all know , there is some cracking motoring stuff on the likes of you tube with many users progressing to make themselves a tidy bit of dosh whether intentional or not! Whilst sinking a lovely lager last night, my mind drifted to the RetroRides clan and who I would watch if they had a channel on the tube There are some of us who are absolute wizards at their craft and others who tell an involving story about anything that tickles them so with that in mind, here are my top three wishlist nominations for a YouTube channel which of course are in no particular order
Drum roll.......
#Grumpynortherner (because of the top notch advice and experience)
#Trekkerglen (because he has what I lust after!)
#Grizz (an adventure in randomness)
Of course, the likeliness of achieving my wishlist is questionable but one never knows Other nominations are incredibly welcome

Don't expect any of my cars or trucks in the Showcase as they never seem to be finished or completed!

Thats a sweet little thing! I've never owned a boat although it does appeal to me but I suspect its more down to the fact that I never learnt to swim and as such nervous around water!

Well what a surprise today was, these haven't seen daylight or even worked for decades, confirmed by the re routing of vac pipes etc to make them work, yes one has a sticky eye but it'll loosen up with a bit of time and lube. You could name him Romesh

I've got this in the Golf: It's not wired up, it's just filling the hole in the dash at the moment. I'd have it all working if it wasn't for this Covid-stuff and I could actually get down to where the car is! I love the fact that even back then it has a "graphic equaliser" setting for heavy metal Was actually for the bias setting needed when using Metal cassettes!

Nice, but a bit old for me. I would love to find one of these or equal: Thom Such good memories of good 'ol Pioneer stuff! It had such a solid "feel" to it compared to other brands!

I've also been wondering about this for a friend, Corflute style extruded plastic seems tempting if you aren't worried about a perfect surface finish to keep weight down, on a tube steel frame hinged in the middle.? I tried the smooth metal skinned plastic composite panels sometimes used for better signage backing (& building claďing), for another project & was surprised how much that weighed, though would give an excellent surface finish. Weight is certainly a consideration although a solid(heavier) solution is probably a bit more within my skillset than fabric! Decisions, decisions!

i used a pair of insignia bonnet hindges, i folded 2 plates and pop riveted them to the insides of the pickup body,i then made up a frame to cover the rear of the body. i then cut a sheet of 2mm sign plastic board the stuff sign makers use . i bonded this to the frame, then glued on leatherette stretched and glued on , locking it from inside the pickup body using rubber toggle holders that they used to use to hold mini bonnets down looks perfect and very tidy i don t have a pics blame photobucket Cheers bud! Some good tips there including the rubber toggles

Vynil (or canvas) tonneaus get pretty tiresome pretty quick in my experience, if you’re actually using them at all regularly. They flap a lot in the wind/turbulence as well, and are quite noisy when they do so. On the couple of vehicles I’ve had with them I actually ended up removing them. It's been sometime since I have used one but cant remember them being noisy etc although the centre brace which stops water pooling may have helped!

Enter the sub fiver grab claw! This little tool has been invaluable with my camper build getting mostly cables through odd places. Feeding cables through the dashboard from top to bottom is also really easy and quick as well as when you have dropped something in some dark hole! I also have its cousin, the magnetic version.

So the background is that the F100's load box is full of dents etc but................has no rusty holes! Seeing as I'm honestly undecided on how to proceed with making it look a bit better(as in new straight floor/wood bed etc), I'm thinking about making a cover for the old sod. So firstly, do I go for a solid alley cover operated with gas struts or the traditional method of a vinyl tie down cover which would need to be made by yours truly who has never touched cotton before let alone a sewing machine So in true RR fashion, opinions would be appreciated on either option and in the case of the vinyl one, how did yours turn out?
