I have severe tinnitus from years of drumming and riding motorbikes with no ear protection. The constant white noise is far from fun and if I could go back in time, not protecting my hearing would be the first thing I'd change. Yup, agreed. And it is essentially insidious. Creeps up quietly Not a fun price to pay. Any hope of it "going away"? I'm clearly not in the medical profession

Such a delicious concoction of old and less old. ARP stuff is always so spendy. John Yup, I'd agree on the ARP point. £53 for a half a dozen manifold bolts and they still didn't do as planned. Expensive

Just noticed something. Why the extra little red dot reflectors on the back? No idea, a remnant from a previous owner! I was going to use the holes for reverse lights (The original ones have been converted to amber indicators) but then found out there is no legal requirement to have them pre 2009.

It takes huge courage to open up and make ones self potentially even more vulnerable. Some may question why do it. One thing for sure, it gives many reading these posts a ton of comfort, call it what you like, just knowing that we/they are facing similar challenges and not alone. The sad thing is that mental health in general, will continue to sadly increase as modern life tests us more & more. I appreciate it's not for everyone, but do believe we would benefit immensely from living a far simpler life with fewer demands. I don't see that as going backwards, just resetting ones self a tad. Take care

Today had a bit more chassis cleanup planned and after a nice cuppa, proceeded to start work and climbed under the truck armed with a selection of tools and wire brushes. Found more rust not previously noticed and the remnants of a disconnected rear brake line which the p/o left in situ after replacing it . So after exclaiming something along the lines of the pooches undercarriage, I made the decision to rather remove the rear bed and sort things out proper. Another cuppa whilst seeking some youtoob guidance and found a few video clips of said procedure. 8 bolts, a couple of wires to disconnect and the fuel filler to body connection and it should slip off. Well of course the youtoob chap whizzed the bolts off with the impact gun and proceeded to lift it away from the truck. Me? all freakin afternoon removing 32 year old bolts (one sheared) and that was 95% done with a breaker bar as my air gun, electric gun and battery driver could not cut it! I'm knackered but it's all free waiting for my tractor friend to lift it off for me It SHOULD be a tad easier from now on

Closed shop by 4.00pm and came in, had a shower and a cold beer. I find it hilarious how you value your ears more than your feet!

A bit of a crazy thought but feed a section of clean medium size chain into the tank and somehow attach it to a concrete mixer if you have one . I would imagine that would get rid of most loose material ready for a liquid wash of your chosen type.

Looks much better with the camping kit off! You may be able to flog that for decent money.

Very cool truck. I’ve been watching from day one as this is very much my bag (as you’ve seen) and not ever commented. Black trucks are best trucks One thing I will mention is the Yanks universally seem to despise those FRAM filters for being poor quality. Just thought I’d mention it. Cheers Rich. Tis funny regarding product opinions as I have used Fram filters for decades with no issues ever. Having said that, maybe they have in recent years been produced in countries known for poor quality?

I have only had long bed trucks including a 67 F100, 59 Chevy Apache and now the K1500. Not as sexy as the shortass versions but mega useful, like load a motorbike, full sheet of ply useful Your's has a bed full of potential! Now on the subject of plastic arches, mine has them courtesy of the p/o but I'm to scared to remove then as they are bound to be hiding some crusty stuff

I feel pretty lonely, especially when i'm tired. Friendships are really hard, even though i'm a bartender by trade. I'm lucky to have a beautiful and epic wife, great marriage, beautiful daughters and my own craftbeer pub, (which i worked really really hard for) but during/after corona i've lost all our financial reserves ( a lot!) and almost lost our house and most of my carstuff, and this hit me mentally very very hard. I started working even more ( easilly make 100+ hours a week )And desicion making became even harder for me, because it always feels like my childhood puzzle with one piece missing. I consider my wife my best friend but in fairness, thats probably to much for her to take. She gets stressed out by my insecurity, to the point that she needs to talk to a professional.. We run the pub together, share a household with kids AND she gets all my personal mental whibblepoo, because i lack interest, or (social?) skills to remain friends with someone/ anyone. Life's weird.... That's a big load to carry for anyone. You managed to come through an awful lot so well done. Those of us with partners are fortunate imho as I would hate to be alone when in a dark space. Your words are a reminder to thank & acknowledge those like our partners who understand and indeed stand by us during tough times. In total contrast to my first wife, my better half of over 20 years is indeed an angel who fully "gets it". I'm grateful

Are your sliders suitably greased? On this point, the sliders could be overgreased preventing them from operating properly. The grease can't be compressed so the sliders/housing is packed with too much, it may cause binding.

It's fascinating how the last few comments are all about coping mechanisms which clearly help the individual minimize contact with others. In contrast I have found being around folk helps me the most although I admit that the initial contact isn't always easy. I suppose it doesn't really matter as long as we are able to function whilst dealing with the black dog.

Sounds a lot like me. Off to the shed as well but to try get a brand new petrol pressure washer to run properly. curse word to start, stutters when you pull the trigger and try adjust the revs. Maybe a cleanout of the new carb may help Morning mate. Did you get your running sorted ? Got a few bits done. Report in a bit. Yes, after a cleanup of a new machine (couldn't see anything obvious) and putting it back together, it now runs & works very well! It's a blessing to have a machine that works well with a rainwater tank system and no mains supply. Electric machines that I have tried just don't work without good supply pressure.
